To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and carries out a sacred mission, Rav* Baruch (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am surprised not to have received letters or news from you for a long time, considering that you devote yourself to the education of Jewish children, teaching them the holy Torah*. Now, everything that pertains to the Torah*, in particular, must be "expanded each day," in the expression of the Zohar*. Moreover, the instruction and supervision of the students takes place within a Chassidic* institution, in which one senses, on the surface and even in depth, the spirit of its founders who direct it — our holy masters. The teacher, the dean of the Yeshivah*, the supervisor are therefore merely channels revealing their blessings. You must understand what I mean.

You ask my opinion on how to vocalize the expression "the memory (see note 2) of Amalek*." I have already written to the great Rav* Ch. Naeh what I think about this, and he has recorded my opinion in the calendar of the Kollel* (see note 3). My position is based on a statement of the Alter Rebbe* (see note 4), printed in the Boneh Yerushalayim* and cited in the Ketzos HaShulchan*, volume 4, by the same author (see note 5).

You mention the practice of wearing a cover on the Tefillin* of the arm during the entire duration of the prayer, in order to protect the corners. This is what I do myself. Obviously, the part of this cover that faces the Yud* (see note 6) is cut, so that this Yud is not separated from the housing, in accordance with the teaching of the holy Zohar*.

In the Tefillin* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, however, the part of the cover at the location of the Yud* was intact. One can conclude from this that he did not wear this cover during the prayer. No doubt his father, the Rebbe* (see note 7), did the same.

With my blessing to share good news regarding all of this,

M. Schneerson
