To my close relative, the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Azriel Zelig (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the eve of Pesach*.

I thank you for having taken the trouble to send me the books from Mossad HaRav Kook* (see note 2) and those of Rav* Ovadyah. I am, however, surprised that the negotiations and the shipment took so long.

You tell me that Rav* Ovadyah wishes to exchange his books for the Responsa* of the Tzemach Tzedek*. On one hand, one must not devalue the publications of Kehot* editions, which could give the impression that they are not accorded their full value. But on the other hand, these books must reach, in particular, those who teach Halachah* and guide those around them. This is indeed the case for him, and it will likewise be so in the future if he himself or one of his followers publishes a book. Both of these points must therefore be emphasized.

You speak of the books destined for Mossad HaRav Kook* that you have not yet transmitted. Those we have available are being shipped now, to your name. They are: HaKeriah VeHaKedushah*, Kav Naki*, Hayom Yom*, Meor Einayim*. However, the Siddur* Torah Or of the Alter Rebbe*, with the Shaar HaKollel*, has been out of print for some time already, and a new edition is being prepared. When it is ready, it will be sent to you.

Likewise, the new catalog has been sent to you, which you can show them (see note 3) to determine what has been published in the meantime. They will thus see what is still in press.

You surely made good use of the days of Pesach* in the proper manner, within the Chabad* association as well as among the youth of the Chabad* association. You will write to me about this, specifying all the necessary details. For your part, you will demonstrate its importance (see note 4). I thank you in advance for everything you can do in this matter.

You have surely received, some time ago, the response to your previous letters. I have just received the letters from Rav* Ovadyah. No doubt you are also contacting other authors, so that they send their books to the library here, at least as an exchange for Kehot* books.

ת"ח על טרחתו בשילוח ספרי מוסד הרב קוק, וספרי הרב עובדי' שי' אף שפלא קצת שמתארך השקו"ט בזה והמשלוח כ"כ...

במ"ש שהרב עובדי' שי' רוצה להחליף הספרים בספרי שו"ת צ"צ, הנה אף שמחד גיסא אין צריך להוזיל מחיר ספרי קה"ת כיון שסו"ס יכול להתקבל הרושם שאין מייקרים בהם, אבל לאידך גיסא צריך שיגיעו ובפרט לאלו שמורים הלכה בפועל והשפעה להם בסביבה, ובודאי להנ"ל וכן עד"ז בעתיד ישנם עוד ספרים שהו"ל הוא או מהשייך אליו, ובמילא יש לצאת שתי נקודות האמורות.

במ"ש אודות הספרים בשביל מוסד הרב קוק, שעדיין לא מסר להם, הנה אלו נמצאים אצלינו נשלחים על שמו עתה, והם הקריאה והקדושה, קב נקי, היום יום, מאור עינים, אבל סידור תורה אור לאדמו"ר הזקן עם שער הכולל, אזל זה מכבר מן השוק, ומכינים אותו עתה לדפוס, וכשיודפס יושלחו גם הם, כן נשלח לו הקטלוג החדש ויוכל להראות להנ"ל בהנוגע להספרים שהופיעו בינתים ומהם יראו אלו שאינם שעדיין נמצאים בדפוס.

בודאי ניצלו ימי חג הפסח באופן המתאים הן באגו"ח וצעירי אגו"ח ויכתוב בפרטיות הדרושה עד"ז ובטח גם מצדו יעוררם על הנחיצות בזה ות"ח מראש על הטרחה בכל האמור.
