To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of illustrious

lineage, Rav Yosef Yoel, known as Professor Rivlin,

I greet you and bless you,

I received in its time your letter informing me that preparations are underway to publish the manuscripts of your illustrious grandfather, the great Rav, renowned Chassid* and disciple of the Alter Rebbe* (this refers to the Ohalei Yosef; see letter no. 3834). There are no words to express how important this is, especially in our time, when light and darkness are revealed simultaneously. The moment is therefore propitious to renew what pertains to the sacred values of the Tradition of Yisrael*.

Then I received printed proofs and was able to observe the light — a Torah* of light, beneficial and sweet. The merit of the public depends on those who confer it upon them, by striving to publish such works.

You are publishing these writings for everyone, and I therefore have good hope that you will be generous toward your own self by studying them, consulting them, and leading your surroundings to do the same. Great is the study of our Torah*, the Torah* of life, which leads to action. And good and holiness have no limits. The more intense the study, the more important the action.

I extend my blessing for a kosher* and joyous Pesach*, to convey good tidings. Please also convey my greetings and my blessing on the occasion of the festival to your father-in-law, to whom Hashem* will grant long life. I thank you for this.

You surely know that I have a library. I would be grateful if you would send it everything you publish.

בעתו קבלתי מכתבו שמתכוננים להוציא לאור כתבי יד של זקנו הגדול הרה"ג והרה"ח נודע לשם ולתפארת מחסידי רבינו הזקן. וגודל הדבר בודאי אין די באר, ופרט בימינו אלו עת אור וחושך משמשים בערבובי' הרי בטח עת לעשות לחדש ענינים הקשורים בקדשי עם ישראל המסורתיים. ולאחר זמן הגיעוני גם גליונות הנדפסים וראיתי האור, תורה אור, כי טוב וכי מתוק, וזכות הרבים במזכי הרבים, כל אלו המשתדלים בההוצאה לאור.

ותקותי חזקה אשר כ' המוציא לאור כתבים אלו לרבים בודאי תהי' עינו טובה בשלו ללמוד בהם ולעיין בהם ולהשפיע גם בסביבתו בכיוון זה. וגדול תלמוד תורתנו תורת חיים שמביא לידי מעשה, וכיון שהטוב והקדוש הם אין-סופיים ובלי גבוליים, הרי ככל שיגדל הלימוד כל יגדל גם המעשה.

בברכה לחג הפסח כשר ושמח ולבשורות טובות, ומטובו למסור פ"ש וברכת החג לחותנו שליט"א ותודה על טרחתו בזה.

בטח ידוע לכ' מהספרי' שתחת ידי, ות"ח אם ישלח להספרי' מכל מה שהוציא לאור.
