I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Adar and to the previous ones. I feel no anger and have no desire to distance you, Heaven forbid. I did not respond solely because of my many occupations, especially since, regarding your situation, everything is going well, as your letters attest. And it is not easy to give precise instructions from a distance, especially since the management of this institution is autonomous.

Nevertheless, I cannot hide that I am pained and surprised. It is said: "They made me keeper of the vineyards," which means that, according to the Torah*, these are indeed vineyards in which one must work. Yet one can voice a complaint upon noting that "my own vineyard I have not kept." Now, this is indeed the case with you and with others as well. You do nothing in the vineyard of Chabad*. You had begun to do so, and for various reasons, you very quickly ceased all activity. In other vineyards, however, you work, you achieve results, and you are satisfied. You should understand what I mean.

I was pleased by what you tell me regarding your lecture to the Nshei* and Bnos Chabad*. You will do the same in the future and will even increase such addresses. Our Sages say that one must study the subject one desires, and how much more so is this the case regarding women. The lectures and classes must therefore interest them. Thus, in relatively little time, you will be able to deepen these concepts and broaden them.

The festival of Pesach* is approaching, for us and for all of Yisrael*, for good and for blessing. You will celebrate it, together with the members of your family, in a kosher* and joyous manner.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"א אדר והקודמים לו. הנה אין כאן ענין של רוגזה והרחקה ח"ו, ומה שלא עניתי הוא מרוב הטרדות, וביחוד כי כללות הענינים כנראה ממכתבו מתנהגים כדבעי, והוראות פרטיות לא תמיד נכון לתתם בריחוק מקום ובפרט שהרי יש הנהלה עצמאית וכו'. אף שלא אכחד שצער יש בענין וגם תמי' וכמה שנאמר, שמוני נטרה את הכרמים (היינו שהתורה מעידה שזהו כרמים וזקוקים לעבודה, ובכ"ז קובלת) כרמי שלי לא נטרתי, שממש בכגון דא הוא גם בהנוגע אליו ועוד לאחדים, שבכרם חב"ד אינם פועלים כלל (וכשהתחילו בזה, הנה מסיבות משונות הפסיקו לאחר זמן קצר לפעול) אף שבכרמים סתם עושים ופועלים ושבעים רצון, וד"ל.

נהניתי ממ"ש אודות ההרצאה לפני נשי ובנות חב"ד, ובודאי גם בעתיד יעשה בזה וגם יוסיף, וכיון שאמרו רז"ל לעולם ילמוד אדם במקום שלבו חפץ עאכו"כ שבהנוגע לנשים צריך לסדר ההרצאות והלימוד באופן שיענין אותן, ואז כעבור משך זמן לא ארוך אפשר הי' להעמיק הענינים ולהרחיבם.

ולקראת חג הפסח הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה הנה יחוג אותו עם ב"ב שיחיו בכשרות ובשמחה.
