To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Yehudah Leib (Rav Y. L. Horowitz, of Dorchester; see letter no. 2405) HaLevi,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 17 (the Rebbe* writes "Tov" — "good" — whose numerical value is seventeen) Adar, with its contents. I am surprised that you do not mention the spreading of the wellsprings (of Chassidus*) outward, particularly at the propitious dates — on the day of the Hilloula* (of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, on 10 Shevat), and on Purim*, which has just passed (see letter no. 3860) and which therefore brought the strength of advancement, unlike the soul which, before descending to this world, can only remain stationary.

May Hashem* grant that you accomplish all of this with the greatest alacrity. In this way, you will meet with success. Indeed, the Heavenly Court has issued the ruling that in all matters pertaining to Torah*, the fear of Hashem*, and good conduct, those who are connected to him (the Alter Rebbe*) and follow his path would prevail.

במענה על מכתבו מטו"ב אדר והמוסגר בו, ולפלא שגם הוא אינו מזכיר אודות הפצת המעינות חוצה ובפרט בימי הסגולה וכמו יום ההילולא, ימי הפורים דאזלינן מנייהו (וידוע הפירוש דאזלינן לשון הילוך, שנעשים בבחי' מהלך ולא כמדריגת הנשמה קודם ירידתה למטה שהיתה בבחי' עומד), ויה"ר שיתעסק בזה במרץ הכי גדול ובמילא יצליח וכידוע פסק בי"ד של מעלה, אשר בגלל המסירות נפש הלזו (של כ"ק רבנו הזקן), על תורת החסידות פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.
