To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of illustrious

lineage, Rav Matisyahu Yechezkel (Rav M. Y. Gutman, of Yafo; see letter no. 3367),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter from the end of the month of Shevat. Subsequently, I also received two copies of your book, in Yiddish, about the Baal Shem Tov*. I thank you for them.

You emphasize the importance of publishing the responsa of the Rashba* (through Kehot* publications). You are right to say that it is necessary to publish the writings of the early Sages, in particular those who taught the Law (and not merely commentary). Nevertheless, certain projects cannot be entrusted to others. This is the case with the publication of Chabad* books. Now, we do not have all the means necessary for this. For the time being, I therefore do not have the ability to devote myself to such publications.

Although you do not mention it, I hope that you participate from time to time in Chassidic* farbrengens*. May Hashem* grant that the words of encouragement (spoken there) continue throughout the entire year, along with the joy drawn from such gatherings.

במענה על מכתבו משילהי שבט, ולאחריו נתקבלו ג"כ שני טופסים מספרו ע"ד הבעש"ט באידיש, ות"ח על זה.

ובמה שמעיר אודות הנחיצות להדפיס שו"ת הרשב"א כו' הנה צודק בנחיצות הדבר להו"ל דברי ראשונים ובפרט מורי הוראה בישראל, אבל ישנם ענינים שהם בגדר דאי אפשר לעשותם ע"י אחרים וה"ה בהנוגע להו"ל של ספרי חב"ד, וגם בהם אין האמצעים מספיקים כלל כפי ההכרח, ולכן ספרים מסוג האמור לעיל אין ביכולתי לע"ע להתעסק בהדפסתם.

תקותי אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז שמשתתף מזמן לזמן בהתועדות אנ"ש, ויה"ר שדברי ההתעוררות יומשכו על כל השנה כולה ובמילא תומשך גם השמחה שממשיכים בעת ההתועדות.

בברכת פסח שמח בשמחה אמיתית ופנימית.
