To the Rebbetzin* Sarah (Rebbetzin Shochat, of Toronto),

I bless you and greet you,

I received in its time your letter describing the celebration of the Nshei* and Bnos Chabad* of Toronto and its success. I am pleased with how it unfolded and with the impression it left on the participants. I have good hope that this has had and will continue to have concrete effects, including after the celebration, in addition to the inspiration and encouragement that these women received during it. Fortunate are all those who participated in organizing this celebration and in its success, especially those who led it.

Rav Eliyahu Akiva Lipsker (of Toronto; see letter no. 1926) has surely conveyed to you the substance of the discussion we had on this subject, and I suggested to him that a booklet be published describing this celebration and reproducing the text of the speeches delivered on that occasion, or at least their main ideas. The usefulness of this is twofold:

A) In your locale, it will be a means of thanking all those who actively participated in organizing this celebration. Indeed, they can be cited by name. And this will make it possible to put into practice the dictum of our Sages that "competition among scholars increases wisdom." The number of members will be increased accordingly.

B) In the other branches of the Nshei* and Bnos Chabad* association, and more generally among observant women, they will take note of the words of encouragement spoken during the celebration and will act accordingly. It might be good to include photographs in this booklet, if any are available.

I conclude by extending my blessing on the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah* of your son, Ezra Binyamin. May Hashem* grant that together with your husband, the Rav, you derive much nachas* from him and from all your children, in every domain. Your actions to strengthen Yiddishkeit* and spread it will multiply the blessings of Hashem* in all that has been said.

בשעתו נתקבל מכתבה בו כותבת על דבר חגיגת נשי ובנות חב"ד בטורונטה והצלחתה. ושמחתי להתפתחות הענינים בזה ולהרושם שהשאיר על הנאספות, אשר בטחוני חזק שהביא ויביא תוצאות בפועל לאחר החגיגה נוסף על עידוד הרוח וההתחזקות בשעת מעשה. ואשרי חלקן של כל אחת ואחת שהשתתפו באירגון הנ"ל והצלחתו ובפרט לאלו העומדות בראש.

בודאי מסר הרב אליהו עקיבא שי' ליפסקר משיחתנו עד"ז והצעתי שידפיסו חוברת תיאור האסיפה והנאומים, או עכ"פ התוכן שלהם, וכו'. והתועלת בזה כפולה

(א) על אתר, הרי זה ישמש מעין הכרת תודה לכל הפעילות בהחגיגה, וכיון שיהי' מקום להזכירן בשמותיהן וכו'. וגם בזה יש מקום לקיום מרז"ל קנאת סופרים תרבה חכמה, שיתרבה מספר החברות.

(ב) בשאר סניפי אגודות נשי ובנות חב"ד, והנשים החרדיות בכלל, כשיקראו דברי ההתעוררות שנאמרו בהחגיגה, בודאי יתעוררו גם הן לפעול בכיון זה. ואפשר נכון ג"כ להכניס להחוברת פוטוגרפיות מהחגיגה אם ישנן...

ומסיימים בברכה, לרגלי היכנס בנם עזרא בנימין שי' לעול מצוות, יהי רצון שתרווה ממנו ביחד עם בעלה הרב שי' ומכל ילידיהם שי' רוב נחת בכל המובנים, ופעולותי' בהחזקת היהדות והפצתה תרבינה ברכות השי"ת בכל האמור.
