To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*,
devotes himself to communal needs,
of generous conduct, from an illustrious
family, Rav S. Z. (Mr. Shneur Zalman Shazar, see letter no. 3919),
I greet you and bless you,
It seems to me that once, during one of our discussions, I had the opportunity to present to you the following position. It would be good to encourage the youth and to give them an important place (literally, "a place to the east"), even if it is possible that they do not yet possess all the necessary capabilities for this. Sometimes, others even suffer from the fact that they are not fully capable.
Despite all of this, such an attitude is justified by the great benefit that results from it — the utilization of fresh energies and the moral satisfaction of each person, knowing that one has helped a certain young person to envision his life in a more serene manner, in an environment that will come to his aid, or in any other context.
No doubt you spent the days of Purim* in joy. May Hashem* grant that this joy know no limit, for external reasons as well as for deep ones. Indeed, we are commanded to "no longer know." You will thus obtain true joy for the entire year.

...וכמדומה לי שפעם הזדמן לי להביע השקפתי בזה בשיחתנו עם כ', אשר כדאי לעודד את הנוער והצעירים ולתת להם מקום ב"מזרח" אף שאולי עדיין לא בשלו כשרונותיהם וראויים לזה, ולפעמים סובלים גם אחרים מאי-הכשרתם הגמורה בשביל התועלת מניצול כחות רעננים ומסיפוק נפשי שיש לכל אחד מההכרה שעזר לפלוני להסתדר יותר טוב בחייו אם בסביבת העוזר לו או אפילו בסביבה אחרת...
בטח עברו עליו ימי הפורים בשמחה, ויהי רצון שתהי' השמחה בלי הגבלה - הן מצד תנאים החיצוניים והן מצד תנאים הפנימיים - וכמצווה: עד דלא ידעי, ותומשך שמחה אמיתית על כל ימות השנה.
