To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*

and devotes himself to communal needs,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 5 Adar and to the previous one, in which you mention your participation in the rabbinical gathering intended to organize visits to new settlements (of immigrants to the Holy Land) in order to make the Torah* and the mitzvos* known there.

I am surprised and pained that you did not clearly transmit, on that occasion, at least the content of the letter I had written to you on this subject — all the more so since you were questioned, asked questions, and a propitious moment to convey this message does not always present itself. But our Sages say that it serves no purpose to complain about the past.

You mention a letter you would address to the rabbinical gathering. Obviously, this is not called for, as it can only be a response to an official inquiry from those who organize this gathering. Moreover, this initiative is conceivable only if political parties are not involved. You must understand what I mean.

On the occasion of the festival of Purim*, which is approaching, I send you my blessing to experience true and intense joy — "until one can no longer distinguish between 'cursed be Haman' and 'blessed be Mordechai'" — according to the deep explanation given by Chassidus*, so that this joy be revealed here below.

It is surely unnecessary to emphasize to you the necessity of continuing these visits and inviting others to do the same. Without making it a vow, I will ask that the special collection cover half the expenses related to this. Nevertheless, it is necessary to coordinate the action and centralize it. This funding will therefore pass through the treasury of the Chabad* youth association. Of course, you may convey all of this to them in my name.

By the way, it is possible that the officer Moshe Beharav resides in Shikun Maoz. If this is indeed the case, please convey my greetings to him and emphasize that he will undoubtedly lend his assistance, as will his wife, as I am convinced, in accordance with the discussion we had when he visited me while he was in New York.

במענה על מכתבו מה' אדר והקודם לו בו כותב אודות השתתפותו באסיפת הרבנים שדנה ע"ד ביקורים בישובים החדשים לעוררם לתורה ולמצוותי'.

הנה לפלא ומצער מפני מה לא אמר בפירוש עכ"פ תוכן מכתבי אליו בזה ובפרט שעוררו אותו ושאלוהו עד"ז, כי עת רצון לא תמיד מן המוכן היא, אבל כבר אמרז"ל אין צועקין על העבר, ומה שמעיר אודות מכתב לאסיפת הרבנים, מובן אשר אין מקום לזה, כי אם בתור מענה על פני' רשמית ממארגני האסיפה, וגם אז בד"א אם לא יערבו עניני מפלגה וכו' וד"ל.

ולקראת ימי הפורים הבע"ל הנני בברכה לשמחת פורים אמיתית ופנימית עד דלא ידע בין ארור המן לברוך מרדכי וכמבואר בדא"ח הענין בפנימית, ע"מ להמשיכה למטה מעשרה טפחים.

בודאי למותר לעוררו להמשיך בביקורים הנ"ל וכן לעורר אחרים עד"ז. ובל"נ אבקש שישתתפו מהמגבית המיוחדת במחצית ההוצאות הקשורות בזה, אף שלנחיצות התאמת העבודה וריכוזה יהי' זה דרך קופת צאגו"ח, ומובן שיכול למסור זה רשמית בשמי.

דרך אגב: אפשר שבשיכון מעוז דר עתה הקצין משה בהרב שי'. וא"כ הוא - מטובו לפ"ש וגם להוסיף, שמובטחני שיסייע, וגם זוג' תחי', במטרות הביקור, מתאים לשיחתנו בהיותו בניו יארק וביקרני.
