Igrot Kodesh · Letter 415 — Torah Publishing Logistics and Manuscript Corrections

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav D.[1],

I greet and bless you,

I reply to your letters of Rosh Chodesh* and 7 Marcheshvan:

A) For the time being I have not received the Likkutei Torah*. I inquired about this from Rav B. G.[2], who told me he had received a copy for his personal use. These days we received twenty-five Siddurim*. It would be good if we had the Sha'arei Orah* before Chanukah* and the Likkutei Torah* before Shabbat Beshalach*.

B) I am surprised that you did not send, through travellers, at least a portion of the books to the city of Nemanov[3], from which it is easier to find people coming here.

C) Regarding the import authorisation for books here: our lawyer is researching which body — the customs office or the state department — issued the authorisations granted in such cases. Please let us know, and the best outcome would be if you could obtain a copy of one of those authorisations.

In any event, these authorisations must not be awaited for the books that are ready to be shipped. There is no reason to delay their dispatch on that account. You must send us immediately by post: at least one thousand Siddurim*, five hundred sets of Shulchan Aruch*, Torah Or*, the various Sha'ar volumes, and Likkutei Torah*, and two hundred copies of Sifraynu* vol. 5. Once they are shipped, please notify us.

D) At the end of my notes on the Piskei Dinim*, the following should be added at the end of chapter 9: 'In one version I found the following note, from Rav L. N. H., on paragraph 2: On Purim* 5625[4], the Rebbe[5] required that the Shehecheyanu* blessing be recited in the morning before the reading of the Megillah*.'

E) The Piskei Dinim* must be published as quickly as possible, as a donor is ready, as I already wrote to you[6].

F) I replied to Rav M. Zelivanski about a month ago[7]. Please verify that he received my letter.

G) Enclosed you will find the chassidic discourse of 13 Tishri and the remarks made at the Simchat Torah* meal, so that they may be made available to the greatest number.

I also send you an open letter from Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch*, and may it be that on this day of the Rebbe's[8] birthday, an hour that is particularly auspicious for him, as stated in the Jerusalem Talmud Rosh Hashana 3:8, we may all merit to take part in the dissemination of his teaching, which is that of the Baal Shem Tov* and of my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita.

במענה על מכתביו מר"ח וזיי"ן מ"ח:

א) הלקו"ת לא קבלתי ע"ע. שאלתי את הרב"ג שי' ואמר לי, כי קבל רק עקז' אחר בשביל עצמו. ימים אלו נתקבלו כ"ה סדורים. אם הי' מתקבל ש"א קודם חנוכה ולקו"ת קודם בשלח - הי' זה דבר בעתו.

ב) תמי' שלא שלח, ע"י אלו שנסעו למחנה נעמאנאוו, עכ"פ חלק מהספרים. והלא משם שכיחי נוסעים לכאן.

ג) בנוגע להשגת רשיון לכניסת הספרים לכאן - מתענין העו"ד לדעת מאיזה מחלקה קבלו הרשיון אלה ששלחו כבר ספרים, אם ממחלקת המכס או סטייט דעפארטמענט. ונא להודיענו. ולו יכול להשיג פוטגרפיא מרשיון הזה הי' מה טוב.

בכל אופן, אין לסמוך על הרשיון מכאן בנוגע לאלה הספרים אשר מוכנים כבר לשלחם. ואין לדחות בשביל זה את המשלח. אלא לשלח תיכף ומיד ע"י הדאר עכ"פ אלף סדורים חמש מאות זאטץ של שו"ע תו"א והשערים ולקו"ת. וכמאתיים ספרנו חלק חמישי. ולהודיענו תיכף שעשה כזאת.

ד) בסוף הערותי לפס"ד צריך להוסיף הערה זו: ס"ט, בסוף ע"ד: בהעתקה אחת מצאתי:..."מהרלנ"ח סק"ב. בפורים שנת הכת"ר פה ליובאוויטש ציוה אדמו"ר לברך שהחיינו בבוקר קודם קריאת המגילה".

ה) צריך למהר בהדפסת הפס"ד, כי יש ע"ז מנדב וכמש"כ מכבר.

ו) זה כחדש שעניתי להר"מ זעליוויאנסקי. ומטובו להודע אם קבל הנ"ל את מכתבי.

ז) מוסג"פ המאמר מי"ג תשרי ור"ד דסעודת שמחת תורה לזכות בם את הרבים, כן מכתב כללי מהמל"ח וביום הולדת את כ"ק אדנ"ע שמזלו גובר ביחוד (כמ"ש בירוש' ר"ה ג', ח') יושפע עלינו כולנו לזכות להשתתף בהפצת תורתו היא תורת הבעש"ט תורת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א.
