To the Chabad* Women's and Girls' Association

of Toronto, may Hashem* grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

On the occasion of your gathering, which will take place on Sunday of Parshas* Tetzaveh, 7 Adar, I send, by this letter, my blessing to all the participants and, in particular, to the members of the Chabad* Women's and Girls' Association (see letter no. 4131).

Your gathering takes place during the period of the year in which we read the Sidros* recounting the building of the Sanctuary and the Temple and showing what was, on that occasion, the contribution of the women.

Without a doubt, the content of these Torah* Sidros* will once more recall and underscore the importance of women and girls, who lead to action and set the example at every stage of Jewish life.

Indeed, the Torah* recounts that the women were the first to bring their contribution in order to build the sacred place where the Divine Presence* was to dwell. Conversely, they refused to take part in the golden calf, which was the opposite of this (for it involved offering one's gold to idolatry instead of giving it to the Temple).

A conscious Jewish woman or girl possesses a deep feeling, a blessed sense of Hashem*, enabling her to determine what is holy and must be strengthened, or conversely, what is harmful and should be removed from Jewish life.

In the present era, when good and evil, light and darkness are very often confused, it is even more fundamental than before that this deep feeling of the Jewish woman and girl find expression in daily existence.

This is precisely the objective of the various groups of the Chabad* Women's and Girls' Association, which must give concrete expression to this inner sense of the woman and girl and her feeling of responsibility, so that they occupy the place that is theirs in the House of Israel and be mistresses of the home, remembering at all times that the raison d'etre of the Jewish home is, to a great extent, in their hands.

May Hashem* grant that you know success in your action and your mission, in order to realize in the broadest manner the profound purpose, defined above, that presided over the creation of the Chabad* Women's and Girls' Associations.

In this way, the Divine blessings will be increased and intensified, for you and for all the members of your families, materially and spiritually.
