To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav David (Rav D. Chanzin of Petach Tikvah*; see letter no. 3822),

I am responding to your letter of 4 Shevat*, in which you tell me that you have begun teaching Tanya* to the teachers of the school (affiliated with the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch* network) in that city.

This is a good initiative, insofar as these teachers participate of their own free will, without any coercion — not even verbal, not even by allusion. Indeed, one must be careful not to give the impression that one is using their affiliation with the network to compel them to participate. Moreover, the subjects studied should be "according to what his heart desires," in the expression of our Sages.

I would like to know how the extra hours (see letter no. 2990) are being used — those that certain teachers decided to volunteer, as we discussed previously.

הנה בכלל נכון הדבר ובלבד אם השתתפות המורים בזה מרצונם הטוב בלי כל כפי' לא בדבור אפילו לא ברמז, כי בענינים כגון דא יש להזהר שלא יקשרו התלותם בעניני הרשת שמנצלים זה להכריח השתתפותם בענין הנ"ל. - וענינים הנלמדים צ"ל כמרז"ל במקום שלבו חפץ...

אתענין לדעת איך מנצלים שעות ההוספה שכמה מהמורים-ות התנדבו לתת, וכמדובר מאז?
