I am responding to your letter from the conclusion of Shabbos* Vayechi* and to the one that preceded it. Due to the urgency, I hasten to write to you without following the order in which the letters were received.

You tell me that you may be asked to also work at the agricultural school (of Kfar Chabad*). Indeed, you have been approached and asked to travel to the youth immigration camp (of those settling in the Holy Land) in order to select the students suitable for this agricultural school. You are concerned that this may affect your work at the vocational school (of Kfar Chabad*).

This trip to select suitable students will take place only once, and it will last only a day or two. Obviously, it is important that the students chosen be fitting (in keeping with the spirit of the school). And if the administration considers you capable of choosing them, one must certainly accede to this request.

Concerning a permanent position at the agricultural school — you do not yet know whether this proposal will be made to you, and all the more so, you do not know the details. If the proposal is indeed put forward, you will surely discuss it so that it causes no detriment (to the other responsibilities). For the administration of the Yeshivah* also has an interest in the vocational school functioning well.

The agricultural school, being a new institution, requires a greater effort than the vocational school, whose operation is already running normally and can perhaps subsequently be managed by someone of lesser stature than yourself — especially if you maintain your authority by visiting from time to time, whenever necessary, even if only for a few moments.

How enviable is your lot! Divine Providence* has granted you the means to participate in the establishment of positive educational institutions in the spirit of Chabad*, in keeping with the vocation entrusted to them by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us.

Your first letter gave me great pleasure. You tell me that you observe a positive development among the students. Since then, their progress has no doubt been even more significant. I am surprised that you say nothing about it.

במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק ויחי והקודם לו, וממהר הנני לענות עליו מבלי לחכות על התור, מפני דחיפת הדבר,

בו שואל אשר אפשר שיבקשו ממנו לעבוד גם בבית ספר החקלאי, והראי' שפני אליו עכשיו שיסע למחנה עליית הנוער כדי לבחור משם תלמידים מתאימים עבור בי"ס חקלאי, וחושש שלא יהי' על ידי זה גרעון בעבודתו בבי"ס למלאכה.

והנה הנסיעה בשביל בחירת תלמידים מתאימים, כיון שאינו אלא ענין חד-פעמי דיום ויומים ונוגע במאד שיהיו התלמידים מתאימים כמובן - אם ההנהלה מוצאת אותו מתאים לזה מובן שיש למלאות בקשתם.

בהנוגע לעבודה קבועה במוסד החקלאי, הנה כיון שעדיין אינו ידוע אם יציעו לו הנ"ל ועאכו"כ שאין ידוע פרטים, הרי אם תבוא הצעה זו - בודאי יוכלו להתדבר ביניהם איך לסדר העבודה באופן שלא יהי' כל היזק. והרי גם הנהלת הישיבה מעונינת בתועלת ביה"ס למלאכה. ואפשר שמוסד החקלאי, בהיותו מוסד חדש, דורש השתדלות מיוחדה מאשר ביה"ס למלאכה שכבר נכנסו הדברים במסלול, ואפשר שיומשכו כדבעי גם על ידי קטן הימנו ובפרט כשתהי' אימתו עליו (כיון שיוכל להכנס לשם לפרקים וזמנים הדרושים - לאיזה רגעים עכ"פ). ואשרי חלקו שההשגחה העליונה נותנה לו האפשריות להשתתף ביסוד מוסדות חינוך כשרים ברוח חב"ד ובמגמה שהתווה בשבילם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

גודל קורת רוח גרם לי מכתבו הראשון, בו כותב אשר נראה שינוי לטוב בהתלמידים, ובודאי מאז - ניכר שינוי והתקדמות לטוב נוסף על שינוי הנ"ל. ולפלא שאין כותב עד"ז...
