To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yonah,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of this Monday and to the preceding one. May Hashem* grant you the strength to be able, in good health and with breadth of spirit, to spread the wellsprings* (of Chassidus*) outward — that is, the teachings, customs, and practices of Chassidus*.

For the time has finally come for all of this. Even when the instruction concerns the alphabet, reading, or the Chumash*, it must be evident that the teacher is a Chassid*, to the point that this is reflected also in the students — when they pray, fulfill a mitzvah*, or study with Chassidic enthusiasm*. In our era, such an accomplishment is not inaccessible or beyond reach. On the contrary, "the matter is very close to you."

I am surprised that your letter is so brief when you discuss the public classes and the Chassidishe farbrengens*. No doubt you will elaborate on all of this in the future.

במענה על מכתבו מיום השני והקודם לו... ויחזק השי"ת כחותיו שיוכל, מתוך בריאות הנכונה והרחבת הדעת, להפיץ המעיינות חוצה, תורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי', כי כבר באה העת, אשר אפילו בלימוד אל"ף בי"ת עברי חומש וכו' צריך להיות ניכר אשר המלמד הוא חסיד, וניכר עד כדי כך שיהי' ניכר בהתלמידים - שמתפללים, מקיימים מצות, ולומדים בחיות חסידותי. ובתקופה זו לא נפלאת היא ולא רחוקה היא, אלא אדרבה קרוב אליך הדבר מאד.

לפלא שמקצר כל כך במכתבו אודות השיעורים ברבים ההתועדויות וכו', ובטח יוסיף בכגון דא מכאן ולהבא.

בברכה לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
