Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 11 Teves* and its enclosure, after a particularly long silence. As you request, I enclose the receipts.

I am surprised that you say nothing about spreading the wellsprings* outward, which is the need of the hour, as indicated in the holy letter of the Baal Shem Tov* recounting how he asked Moshiach* when he would come.

Now, if this pertains to all those who are connected to the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov*, how much more so does it apply to the students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. Indeed, the founder of this institution, the Rebbe Rashab*, specified that they are all "candles to illuminate."

May Hashem* grant that in the future, such activities not be lacking, even if you do not inform me of their accomplishment. You know, indeed, the ruling of the Heavenly Court, according to which — by virtue of the self-sacrifice* the Alter Rebbe* displayed for Chassidus* — all those who are connected to him and follow his path will prevail in all matters concerning Torah*, awe of Heaven, and good character traits.

With blessing for good tidings regarding all of the above, in good health, physical and spiritual,

לאחרי שתיקתו הכי ארוכה נתקבל מכתבו מי"א טבת עם המוסגר בו, וכבקשתו מוסג"פ הקבלות. ולפלא מה שאינו מזכיר דבר בהנוגע לפעולות בהפצת המעיינות חוצה, כי הרי זה צו השעה, וכידוע אגרת הקדש הבעש"ט אשר עי"ז קאתי מר. ואם כן הוא בהנוגע לכל אלו השייכים לתורת הבעש"ט, עאכו"כ לתלמידי תומכי תמימים אשר את כאו"א מהם קרא מייסד תו"ת כ"ק אדמו"ר (מוהרש"ב) נ"ע בשם נרות להאיר.

ויה"ר שעכ"פ מכאן ולהבא, אם אפילו לא יודיע ע"ד פעולות מעין אלו, עכ"פ לא יהי' חסרון כלל בהנוגע למעשה, וכבר ידוע פסק בי"ד של מעלה, אשר בגלל מסירות נפשו (של רבנו הזקן) על תורת החסידות, הנה פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות, תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.
