To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Avraham Dov,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 8 Teves*, in which you inform me that you had the opportunity to establish a daily prayer service in your synagogue* since Chanukah*. True, you faced some difficulties, but our Sages* say that all beginnings are difficult (but not what follows). Based on what you write, this statement has been fully realized in your case. It will therefore also be the case that this specification applies only to the beginning (everything will therefore become easy afterward).

It is known that the beginning and the end of a process are its first and last points. These two terms, however, do not describe all the intermediate stages. Now, an effort that was, after all, limited enabled you to obtain such a result. You can therefore deduce what the result will be when the proper effort is applied.

What has just been said will help you understand the satisfaction I derived from your initiative to have the women and young women also attend the prayer service on Shabbos*, all the more so since this is also a means of fulfilling the commandment: "Turn away from evil." You must understand what I mean.

You distribute cakes at the conclusion of the service, and this is a good thing. It would be wise also to arrange for one of the community members who is able to do so to say a few words each time, for five or ten minutes.

I extend my blessing for good tidings regarding all of the above and for being able to acquire a good house, material and spiritual. Please also consult, on this subject, the conclusion of the series of Chassidic discourses entitled "Many waters" (by the Rebbe Maharash*, grandfather of the Frierdiker Rebbe*).

במענה על מכתבו מח' טבת, בו כותב שעלה בידו לארגן שמימי החנוכה התחילו להתפלל בכל יום בבית הכנסת, אף שפגשו כמה קישוים, ויקוים גם בזה מרז"ל כל התחלות קשות שכיון שכפי כתבו נתגשם כפשוטו יבוא לפועל גם הדיוק שבו שכל התחלות קשות משא"כ לאחר ההתחלה, והרי ידוע המבואר שההתחלה וכן הסיום הן נקודה הראשונה ונקודה האחרונה וכל מה שבינתים יצא מגדר התחלה וסיום, וכיון שבהשתדלות מועטה לפ"ע הצליח בהנ"ל, ילמוד ק"ו בן בנו של ק"ו אודות התוצאות הטובות כשישתדלו בכל הצריך, וע"פ הנ"ל מובן שביעת הרצון מהתעמולה שמנהל שגם הנשים והבנות תבואנה לתפלה בש"ק ובפרט שבזה ישנה גם ענין דסור מרע, וד"ל.

טוב עושים שלאחר התפלה נותנים מיני מזונות וכו', ומה טוב שיוסיפו בזה שהמתפללים השייכים לזה ינאום בכל פעם אחד מהם כחמשה עשרה רגעים.

בברכה לבשו"ט בהאמור וכן בהנוגע לקנין בית טוב בגו"ר, ויעויין ג"כ בסוף המשך מים רבים.
