To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Menachem Ben Tzion,

Greetings and blessings,

I have already acknowledged receipt, through the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, of manifold accomplishments, Rav S. Z. Hecht, of the three volumes on "the Book of the Torah and the Mitzvah" (by the Ritva*, which is a commentary on the 613 mitzvos* of the Torah*, published in Yerushalayim* in 5673/1913). I also discussed this with your brother, who resides in the Holy Land, whom Hashem* should grant long life. Nevertheless, out of respect for you, I confirm all of this once more in writing.

Likewise, your brother told me that you still possess several copies of this work. He also informed me that you hold certain manuscripts, as yet unpublished. Were it not written, "You command Me regarding My children and the works of My hands" (this verse indicating that in other cases it is not possible to give orders), I would have emphasized the usefulness of consulting with your brother about these manuscripts, in order to determine whether they can be printed as they are or whether they still need to be revised.

Many books of all categories are currently being printed in the Holy Land, and the covers indicate that various institutions support these publications — even though, behind the scenes, it is noted that their help is merely symbolic and covers only a small fraction of the cost. No doubt your brother has or can obtain more extensive information on this matter.

I know that you appreciate our publications, and I have therefore had the recent releases, which will surely interest you, sent to you under separate cover.

I extend my blessing that you strengthen and disseminate the Torah* and mitzvos*, in accordance with the content of these volumes, and the luminary of the Torah*, which is its inner dimension — the Zohar*, the writings of the Arizal*, and in our day, the books and writings of Chassidus*. For nothing can withstand the will.

שלום וברכה!

אף כי מכבר אישרתי ע"י הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ רב פעלים מוהרש"ז שי' העכט, קבלת שלשת החוברות ספר התורה והמצוה, וכן ומה שדברתי עד"ז עם אחיו תושב אה"ק שליט"א, מפני הכבוד הנני מאשר את זה תכתב עוה"פ וכן אשר אחיו אמר לי שנמצאים אצלו עדיין כמה טופסים מחבור הנ"ל והוסיף ביחד עם זה שנשארו עדיין איזה כתבי יד שלא ראו אור הדפוס עד עתה. ולולא הכתוב על בני ועל פועל ידי תצוני, הייתי מעורר את כת"ר שי' להתדבר עם אחיו בהנוגע לכתבי יד הנ"ל באם מתאימים הם לראות אור הדפוס או שעדיין צריכים עבוד והכנה וכו', והרי נדפסים עתה באה"ק ת"ו כו"כ ספרים מכל הסוגים וכנראה מהכתוב על השער ישנם מוסדות ג"כ מכמה סוגים המסייעים בהדפסת ספרים, אף שכפי הנשמע מאחורי הפרגוד, אין זה אלא עזרה סמלית, היינו חלק קטן מהוצאות הדפוס, ובודאי יודע אחיו יותר פרטים בזה או שיכול להודע.

בידעי התענינותו בהיו"ל על ידינו, הנה נשלח אליו בחבילה בפ"ע מהנדפס בשמן האחרון שבודאי יעניין את כת"ר שי'.

בברכה לחזק ולהפיץ את התורה והמצות ומתאים לתוכן חוברות הנ"ל ע"פ המאור שבהם הנמצא בפנימיות התורה בזהר כתבי האריז"ל עד לימינו אלה בספרי וכתבי תורת החסידות, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ובכבוד.
