To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yehudah,

Greetings and blessings,

You discuss a man to whom Divine Providence* has granted an enviable lot, as he provides financial support to the holy school Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak*, which bears the name of the Rebbe*. Yet this man now suddenly considers that he might abandon this enviable lot in order to ascend to the Holy Land, to devote himself there to other concerns.

It is quite clear that such a conception has no place in our holy Torah*. Indeed, those who already find themselves in the Holy Land may leave it in order to study Torah*, as the great master, the Rambam*, specifies in his Laws of Kings, chapter 8, paragraph 9. How much more so is it inconceivable to abandon an enterprise of Torah* and the support given to it in order to go wander and grope about, hoping to find a suitable objective.

May the Creator of the world illuminate this man's eyes, so that he sees the truth and what is good for him and for the members of his family, materially and spiritually alike.

...ובמה שכותב כת"ר אודות מר... שי' אשר השגחה העליונה העמידתו על חלק היפה שמסייע בעניני מוסד הק' אהלי יוסף יצחק אדמו"ר שעל שמו נקרא, ולפתע נתעוררה סברא אשר יעזוב חלקו זה ויעלה לאה"ק ת"ו לחפש לו ענינים אחרים.

מובן שאין לסברא זו יסוד בתורתנו הק', כי אפילו הנמצאים כבר בארץ הקדושה יוצאים לחו"ל בשביל תלמוד תורה, וכפסק המורה הגדול הוא הרמב"ם בהלכות מלכים פקר ח' הלכה ט', עאכו"כ שאי אפשר לעזוב ענין דתורה ותמכין דאורייתא ולמשש ולגשש אולי ימצא מה שהוא מתאים בשבילו, ויה"ר מבורא עולם אשר יאיר עיני הנ"ל לראות האמת ואת הטוב לפניו ולפני ב"ב שי' בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
