To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Alexander Sender,

Greetings and blessings,

I received, some time ago, your letter in which you describe the meeting of the Chabad* association and the proposal you made there. You wish, indeed, for the leaders and elders among the Chassidim* to visit the Jewish villages. Your letter was, precisely, one of the reasons that led me to write, some time ago, to the Chabad* association on this subject.

In the country where we were previously (Russia), one risked one's life in this manner (by visiting Jewish communities). The concealment and the darkness were very deep, including among those who were animated by the fear of Heaven. Despite this, one devoted oneself to this activity, without taking any of this into account. Now, we have settled in "the land upon which the eyes of Hashem* are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." Through an intervention of Hashem*, the opposition that certain observant Jews previously manifested has diminished and practically disappeared. Not only does the danger no longer exist, but one also obtains, by acting in this manner, certain benefits that even the animal soul* itself recognizes as positive. Yet the effort and the eagerness are being reduced, little by little, in an ever-increasing manner. You must understand what I mean.

You know the meaning of the expression "(Forgive us for) the sin we have committed before You through the evil inclination*." Indeed, there are certain sins that the evil inclination* itself is incapable of explaining, that it does not have the audacity to incite a Jew to commit. But various stratagems cause one to be led to do so nonetheless. You will understand this.

Obviously, I am not referring to any specific person, but to most of the leaders and elders among the Chassidim* and therefore, ultimately, to each one of them.

You inform me of the marriage of your son Dovid, whom Hashem* should grant long life. I therefore reiterate my blessing. May Hashem* grant him Mazel Tov*, Mazel Tov*, in a good and fruitful time, that he build an everlasting edifice based on the Torah* and mitzvos*, as they are illuminated by the luminary of the Torah*, which is the teaching of Chassidus*.

With blessing of Mazel Tov*, Mazel Tov*,

(Rav A. S. Yudassin of Tel Aviv; see, regarding him, letter no. 3860.)
