To our brethren, the children of Yisrael, who cherish and honor
the Torah* and the mitzvos*, may Hashem grant you long life,
Greetings and blessings,
I hereby extend my blessing to all the leaders of the Yeshivah*, to those who assist them, and to those who participate in the preparation of the annual celebration of the central Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch, which will take place, please Hashem, on the Sunday of Parshas Vayigash*, 3 Teves.
I salute the friends of the Yeshivos* Lubavitch, as well as the merit they have acquired by contributing to one of the greatest Torah* institutions permeated with the fear of Hashem in our era.
At the same time, basing myself on the teaching of our Sages that "one encourages eagerness only in those who possess it by nature," I appeal to you and remind you of the specific responsibility resting upon all those who understand the fundamental importance of a Yeshivah* in general, and of the Yeshivos* Lubavitch in particular.
As with everything that concerns the Torah* and the mitzvos*, the work carried out for the Yeshivos* Lubavitch must be done with eagerness. It is known how important this quality is, and our father Avraham implanted it in the heart of every Jew for all generations. Moreover, it must be constantly increased, like everything that is alive. Concretely, the characteristic of life is to grow and develop.
Our Sages note that one ascends in the domain of holiness.
The principal leaders, moreover, have a specific merit and obligation. They must set the tone and guide, act themselves and lead others to do so. The success of what concerns the Yeshivah* depends on them to a large extent.
They must arouse in others a positive feeling of self-sacrifice and devotion, so that each person fulfills his duty according to the strengths at his disposal — both the revealed strengths and the hidden ones. In this way, one will ensure the maintenance and expansion of the central Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch.
By becoming conscious of this great merit and fulfilling this sacred obligation, each person will receive the blessing of our holy masters, the founders of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch, who constantly invoke Divine mercy for those who support it.
To the blessing that "those who support it are happy" is added the threefold blessing that enables one to obtain children, health, and prosperity.
