Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 10 Marcheshvan, with its contents. I am a little surprised to note that you tell me nothing about your schedule. I hope that you will do so at the next opportunity.

I take this opportunity to point out to you that, inasmuch as your parents decided to give you private English lessons, you should, for your part, have done everything possible to succeed in this — to know how to speak and write fluently the language of the country.

It is about all studies that it was said: "When one makes efforts, those efforts are crowned with success." In due time, this knowledge will be useful to you not only for earning your material livelihood, but also for your moral sustenance.

One can observe in practice that some people exert an influence on those around them because they have mastered the language of the country — that is, in this case, English. I hope to receive the news that you have indeed adopted this approach, that you are learning this language, and that all is going well.

I enclose a recently published pamphlet. Its content will surely serve you in strengthening the dissemination of Yiddishkeit* in your surroundings.
