To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to the letter you began writing on the eve of the festival of Sukkos*. You envision organizing courses for the teachers. You say nothing about the study days that should have taken place during Tishrei*, and I therefore fear that these were once again canceled.

It is, of course, particularly judicious to establish courses for the Chassidic* teachers. However, one must ask whether, in the current circumstances, it is necessary that these courses be given by Chassidim*. Perhaps, among the existing courses, some are suitable for them — especially if the organizers are informed of their specific needs, specifying that these concern a well-defined group of people. They will no doubt agree to provide specific presentations or program adjustments, if needed.

On the one hand, the expenses will be considerably reduced (if one attends existing courses rather than organizing new ones). Moreover, this approach will have an essential benefit, since one will more easily absorb a teaching given in the presence of other people. It will therefore not be necessary to add to the class those who do not truly belong there, due to insufficient enrollment.

Another point, which is also important: if one takes an interest in existing courses, it will be possible to begin the studies as soon as possible. This will not be the case if one must design special courses.

On this subject, you mention the number of hours that must be devoted to this, and one can indeed wonder about this point. Where will one find so much free time? Is not each one of you occupied? It is, of course, unnecessary to point out to you once again that all of this in no way exempts the Chassidic* teachers from training and perfecting themselves, to the fullest extent possible and as soon as possible. This analysis bears solely on the manner of achieving such a result, in the shortest time and in an effective way.

במענה על מכתבו שהתחיל לכותבו ערב חג הסוכות, בו כותב ע"ד יסוד קורסים למורים (וחוששני שכיון שאינו מזכיר דבר אודות ימי העיון שהי' צ"ל במשך חדש תשרי, שגם הפעם לא בא לפועל).

הנה מובן שיסוד דקורסין למורים מאנ"ש דבר נכון במאד מאד, אלא שצריך עיון אם במצב ההווה מוכרח שיהי' קורס מיוחד בשבילם ע"י אנ"ש, ואולי אפשר למצוא מבין קורסין הקיימים כבר מתאים בשבילם, ובפרט שכשידברו עם הנהלת הקורסין אודות הדרישות המיוחדות של אנ"ש ויבארו שהדברים הם בהנוגע לקבוצה של מספר מסוים, בודאי יסכימו לערוך בשבילם הרצאות מיוחדות אם זקוקים לזה, שינוים בתכנית למודיהם וכו', ונוסף על שההוצאות היו יותר קטנות שלא בערך, הנה תועלת נוספת בזה והוא העיקר בזה שכשילמדו בצוותא עם עוד אנשים בודאי יוקלטו הלימודים בנקל יותר, ולא יהי' הכרח לצרף בכתה אחת אלו שאינם מתאימים כ"כ מפני מספרם המועט כו' וכו', ועוד נקודה בזה וגם היא חשובה שם יתענינו בקורסין הקיימים כבר, בודאי אפשר יהי' להתחיל הלימודים בהקדם, משא"כ אם ייסדו קורס מיוחד.

דא"ג מה שכותב אודות מספר שעות הלימוד בהנ"ל, לכאורה צריך עיון, מאין יקחו זמן פנוי כ"כ, כיון שכאו"א מהם עסוק, ובודאי למותר ולהדגיש עוד הפעם אשר כל הנ"ל אינו ממעט כלל בהנחיצות הכי גדולה שישתלמו מורי אנ"ש ככל האפשרי וככל המוקדם, ואין השקו"ט אלא בהאופן שאפשר להגשים הדבר בהקדם ועל צד היותר טוב...
