Greetings and blessings,

You write that you are an opponent of Chassidus*. You will forgive me for not believing you. Indeed, the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, explains that a Jew does not want and cannot separate himself from the Divine.

At the present time, everyone acknowledges that Chassidus and its teachings are connected to the Holy One, blessed be He, that they enable one to cleave to Hashem. A Jew therefore cannot be opposed to them. A difference is conceivable in the degree of closeness to Chassidus, of attachment to it. Now, the same is true of the other parts of the Torah*. Not everyone, even among Torah scholars, fully possesses its profound dimension, for it transcends the intellect. Some know it somewhat, others much more. And the same is true for Chassidus.

May Hashem grant, for every Jew, that the new year surpass the one that has just ended — that one be more deeply permeated, that one understand better, and that one do so in good health and with joy.
