With the help of Hashem

To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Alexander Sender (1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the end of the month of Menachem Av, as well as to your greetings transmitted to me by the great Rav Shtentzil.

You ask for an explanation of what I wrote regarding the work one must carry out among one's circle. You know what my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, says on this topic: "According to all possible interpretations." Upon reflection, you will surely find a way to act in addition to everything you write to me, and know that I allude to this as well.

This page is not large enough to enumerate everything that is possible to accomplish, especially in our generation, when "he (2) stands behind our wall." One can verify concretely that the success surpasses all measure, but one also observes a profound darkness when nothing is done, when one does not take advantage of the success and the opportunities that Hashem grants.

You say that the Chassidim* and the students of the Yeshivah* must form a fraternal association. It is unnecessary to specify how important this is. The Sages* of the early generations (3) already emphasized this, and what could be more compelling than the Chassidic* discourses of our masters, such as the one entitled "Enlist from among yourselves men," from the Alter Rebbe* through my father-in-law, the Rebbe? There is nothing to add to all of that.

However, it is also evident that making the actions that are necessary on a daily basis dependent upon the formation of such an association makes no sense (4), or worse still, is a means of eliminating from the outset all possibility of action. May Hashem grant, indeed, that this association may be formed one day.

As you request, I will mention all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that they obtain the fulfillment of their needs, as you write.

May Hashem grant you the merit and the success of announcing good news to me regarding all of this, and that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.

במענה על מכתבו משילהי מנ"א, וכן הפ"ש שהגיעני על ידי הרה"ג כו' שטענציל שי'.

מה ששואל פירוש מה שכתבתי אודות הפעולות בהסביבה, ידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בכגון דא, שהוא "עם כל הפירושים". ובודאי, כשיתבונן - ימצא עוד אופני פעולה נוסף על אלו שכותבם, וגם להם כיוונתי. וקצרה היריעה מלפרט את כל האפשר להעשות, ובפרט בדורנו זה - שהנה זה עומד אחר כתלנו, ורואים בחוש שנותנים הצלחה בלתי משוערה, אף שרואים ג"כ גודל ההעלם וההסתר בהעדר הפעולה ואי הניצול של ההצלחה ואפשריות הניתנה באתעדל"ע...

במ"ש אשר על אנ"ש והתמימים להתאגד באגודת אחים כו' הנה אף שלמותר להאריך בגודל הדבר, וכבר צעקו על זה קדמאי, ומה לנו יותר ממאמרי החלצו - מתחיל מרבנו הזקן עד לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר - ואין צריכים להעדפה מדילי, אבל פשוט ג"כ, שכל המקשר הפעולות העומדים על סדר היום-יומי בהגשמת אגוד זה, אין זה אלא לועג לרש, אם לא גרוע מזה, היינו רצון לבטל אפשריות הפעולות מעיקרם, כיון שהבאת אגו"ח כזו בפועל, הלואי שתבוא לאחר עדן ועדנים.

כבקשתו אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך להם כפי כתבו. והשי"ת יזכהו ויצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל ולהכתב ולהחתם לשנה טובה ומתוקה.
