Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Tammuz, in which you tell me about the work you have done until now. You note that it is difficult, even though it provides you amply with the means for your livelihood. Consequently, you have had the idea of accepting a teaching position, even though, for the time being, you have no experience in this field.

An essential point is missing from your letter. Are you asking me this question with the agreement of your wife? Indeed, our Sages say that for all material matters, she too must express her opinion. In this case, the question has a comprehensive bearing, since it concerns the livelihood of the entire family.

If she gives her agreement for this question to be raised, it would be good for you to first have an initial experience of teaching, which should certainly be possible during the vacation period, without any binding commitment on your part.

I am surprised that you do not speak of your study of the revealed dimension of Torah* and of Chassidus*, as well as of your participation in the activities of Chabad*, for these are — particularly for Chassidim* — the channel and the vessels enabling one to receive the blessings of Hashem, satisfying all needs.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"א תמוז, בו כותב אודות עבודתו עתה אשר קשה היא אף שפרנסתו מצוי' עי"ז, ולכן עלה בדעתו לקבל משרת מורה ב... אף שעד עתה לא ניסה באלה.

והנה אחד העקרים חסר במכתבו, אם שאלתו זו היא בהסכמת זוגתו תחי', שהרי במילי דעלמא צריכים להתייעץ עמה וכמרז"ל, ובפרט שזהו ענין כללי בהנוגע לפרנסת כל הבית, ואם גם היא מסכמת להעיד שאלה זו על סדר היום, כדאי הי' לנסות את כחו בעניני חינוך שבודאי יש מקום לנסון זה גם בימי החופש בלי התחייבות מצדו...

לפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר שיעוריו בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות והשתתפותו בעסקנות בכרם חב"ד שהרי זהו הצנור והכלים, ודאנ"ש בפרט, לקבלת ברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך להם.
