To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Aharon,

Greetings and blessings,

We have duly received your letter of 16 Tammuz. I thank you for sending me a photograph of the students of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch schools in your city (in Morocco).

You inform me that you organized a Chassidic farbrengen* for the festival of liberation of 12-13 Tammuz — the festival of the leader of Israel, of our deliverance and the freedom of our soul. I thank you for this good news. Surely one endeavors to ensure that the encouragement resulting from it is preserved throughout the entire year in a concrete manner. Indeed, the Midrash* states, "The concrete action is essential, not the theory."

You tell me about a man residing in Bechar who told you what happened to his son — may he have a long life. It must be explained to him that there is absolutely no intervention of demons here, Heaven forbid, but solely a physical health problem. Now, physical health is directly linked to one's spiritual state. Nevertheless, one must also have recourse to natural means, and for this, the man should have the Mezuzos* of his house checked, as well as his Tefillin* — not only the housings in their external appearance, but also the parchments, to ensure that they are fully in conformity with Halachah*.

Likewise, the mother of this child should adopt modest conduct. She should apply, in particular, the laws of family purity*. Before lighting the candles on the eve of Shabbos* and festivals, as well as during the week on Monday and Thursday mornings, she should give a few coins to Tzedakah*. The son should wear a Tallis Katan* and endeavor to keep his head covered. In addition, the parents should consult a specialist physician in this field in a large city, and follow his prescription.

May Hashem grant them the merit and success to raise this child to Torah*, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds, in wholeness.

You also tell me about a man who suffers from his eyelashes. He should consult a specialist physician and follow his prescription. Likewise, he should have his Tefillin* checked and, in the future, he should scrupulously observe Kiddush* and Havdalah* (which are directly linked to the clarity of the eyes; see Letters #2556 and #3757).

In accordance with your request, all these names will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, the leader of Israel, so that each one may obtain the satisfaction of his needs. When you have good news concerning them, please do not fail to inform me.

מאשרים קבלת מכתבו מט"ז תמוז, ות"ח על שולחו תמונת תלמידים-ות של בתי ספר אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש במחנם הט'.

ת"ח על הבשו"ט אשר התועדו בחג הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז, גאולת נשיא ישראל וגאולתינו ופדות נפשינו, ובודאי משתדלים שההתעוררות תמשך בכל ימות השנה ובענינים של פועל, וכמאמר המשנה לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה.

במ"ש אודות מר... שי' מעיר בשאר, שסיפר לו מהנעשה עם בנו... שליט"א, וצריך הי' להסבירו אשר אין זה חס ושלום ענין של שדים ר"ל, אלא ענין של בריאות הגוף בלבד, וכיון שבריאות הגוף תלוי' בענינים רוחניים ואח"כ צריך לעשות גם בדרך הטבע, הנה יבדוק את המזוזות בביתו וכן את התפילין שלו, וכוונתי לא הבתים של התפילין מבחוץ אלא בעיקר הפרשיות שתהיינה כשרות כדין, והאם של הבן תהי' זהירה בענינים של צניעות, ובעיקר בדיני וחוקי טהרת המשפחה, ולפני הדלקת הנרות בכל עש"ק וערב יום טוב וכן בכל יום חול של שני וחמישי בשבוע בבקר תפריש לצדקה איזה פרוטות-פראנק ובנם יהי' לבוש טלית קטן וזהיר בכסוי הראש, ונוסף על זה ישאלו דעת רופא מומחה למקצוע זה ובעיר גדולה וכהוראתו כן יעשו, והשי"ת יזכם ויצליחם לגדלו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים ושלם.

במ"ש אודות מר.. שי' שיש לו מיחוש בשער של עיניו וכו' - הנה ישאל עצת רופא מומחה ויעשה כהוראתו, וכן יבדקו את התפילין שלו, ומכאן ולהבא יהי' זהיר בקידוש ובהבדלה.

כבקשתו יזכירו את כל אלה על ציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע נשיא ישראל להמצטרך להם, ובודאי כשיהיו אצלו בשורות טובות בזה יודיע...
