The pure waters (see note below):

One may perform ritual immersion* in them, which is not the case when the water is impure or disqualified, at least by virtue of a Rabbinic* enactment. How much more so must the entry into the water itself be pure.

This is not what the Mishnah Acharonah* seems to indicate. The Tiferes Yisrael* explains how one places oneself in a state of susceptibility to contracting impurity (i.e., without yet actually contracting it), but, in my humble opinion, this has no bearing whatsoever on our subject.

You will also consult the Gulas Alyos*, the Prishah* on Yoreh Deah*, chapter 24, in defining the cause, and the Sdei Chemed*, principles, chapter 2, paragraphs 1 and 2.

(Note 1: This responds to a question posed on Tractate Mikvaos*, chapter 7, Mishnah* 2: "These are disqualified and one does not use their waters, whether they are impure or pure." What novel idea is introduced by the expression: "whether they are impure or pure"?)

(Note 2: Without yet actually contracting it.)
