Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your letter of the eve of Shabbos* and those that preceded it. As you request, I will mention the names of all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that they obtain the satisfaction of their needs, as you describe in your letter. May Hashem grant that you soon tell me good news of all of this.

I have inquired on various occasions about the Mikveh* of Postville (see letters no. 2992 and 3189 on this subject). I was told that you have given precise instructions on the matter, and this is surely true.

You tell me that you also raised the question of a Mikveh* in Spring Valley, and I am pleased. Nevertheless, your letter does not clearly indicate who this Rav* Gordon is. Several Rabbanim* carry this name. You do not specify from which city or village he comes. You will no doubt do so on the next occasion.

Please excuse me for not having responded in a timely fashion to your previous letters, due to my many occupations. For the same reason, I was unable to carefully review the sixth volume of your book (the Taharat Yom Tov), as you requested. And various activities still lie ahead. In particular, I must prepare the publication of the works of our holy masters, whose merit protects us. This is, indeed, timely. It is a means of preparing for the month of Elul*, which is approaching.

May Hashem grant that you magnify Torah* quantitatively and embellish it qualitatively, with true breadth of spirit.

P.S.: I wrote to you (in letter no. 2642; see also letter no. 3783) that I had not found this same statement expressed elsewhere. You mention the enumeration of mitzvos* by the author of the Or HaChaim*. Certainly, I have not forgotten Tractate Niddah*, page 13, the reference upon which this author bases himself to include it in the enumeration of mitzvos*, as he himself states in his book. Nevertheless, from what I have been able to see until now, he is the only one among all those who establish the enumeration of mitzvos* to hold this opinion. One must conclude that according to the others, the Gemara* is merely a support, an allusion.

I am enclosing a pamphlet recounting the continuation of the imprisonment (of the Frierdiker Rebbe*). It was published for the days of the liberation, the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, dates of our deliverance and the freedom of our souls. You will surely make its content available to the greatest number. The public merit depends on you.

במענה על מכתבו מעש"ק והקודמים. כבקשתו אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך להם וכמבואר במכתבו, ויה"ר מהשי"ת שבקרוב ממש יוכל לבשר טוב בזה.

שאלתי איזה פעמים למצב הענין אודות המקוה בפאטסוויל, ואמרו לי שקבלו הוראות מפורטות מכת"ר ובודאי נכונים הדברים.

נהניתי ממ"ש שדבר גם בספרינגוואלי בהנוגע למקוה, אבל אינו ברור במכתבו מי זה הרב גארדאן, כי כמה רבנים בשם זה ישנם, וגם לא שם העיר או המושב, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הבאה.

אתו רוב הסליחה אשר לא עניתי בעתו ובזמנו על מכתביו הקודמים, והוא מפני רוב הטרדות, שזהו ג"כ הטעם שלא נתפניתי עד עתה לעיין כדבעי בספרו חלק ששי כבקשתו, וגם בעתיד הקרוב כמה טרדות נצטברו, ובפרט בהכנה לדפוס מספרי רבוה"ק זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שזהו ענין שהזמן גרמא והכנה לחדש אלול וכו', והשי"ת יצליחו להגדיל (בכמות) תורה ולהאדירה (באיכות) מתוך הרחבת הדעת אמיתית.

במה ששאלו אותו על מה שכתבתי שלא מצאתי חבר - לזה המונה הוצאת שז"ל במנין המצות בעל מחבר אור השנים - לא נעלם ש"ס דנדה דף י"ג, כיון שזהו יסודו של הנ"ל להכניס במנין מצות וכמבואר בספרו שם, אבל יחיד הוא בזה בין כל מוני מצות כפי החיפוש עד עתה, וע"כ צ"ל ששאר מוני המצות מפרשים ש"ס הנ"ל שזהו - אסמכתא ואביזרייהו וכיו"ב.

מוסג"פ חוברת המשך המאסר שהו"ל בקשר עם ימי הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז, גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, ובטח יזכה בתוכנה את הרבים וזכות הרבים תלוי בו.
