Blessings and greetings,

I have duly received your letter of the eve of Shabbos* Chukas-Balak, which was, once again, preceded by a long silence. May Hashem grant that the present letter find you in better health, until you are perfectly well — that you be strong, Eisan*, in the most literal sense and also with all the commentaries that the Alter Rebbe* gives on this term in his Chassidic* discourse entitled "Song of Eisan," which appears in the Kuntres Limud HaChassidus*.

You describe to me how you endeavor to influence the greatest number, both adults and children, to draw their hearts close to our Father in Heaven, and I am pleased. You promote concrete action, the laws applicable in daily life, and there is no doubt that these people will thereby improve their conduct.

Obviously, all of this does not exempt you from ensuring that you maintain your physical health. You must therefore follow the physician's instructions. It is said that "the Torah* has authorized the physician to heal." Moreover, as the Alter Rebbe* states in chapter 7 of the Tanya*, it is necessary to serve Hashem also through one's body. This is furthermore what the Rambam* explains in his Laws of De'os*, and the Tur* Shulchan Aruch*, in chapter 231, in accordance with the verse: "In all your ways, know Him."

Granted, it is very difficult to devote an entire day each week solely to the health of one's body. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to rigidly fix the allocation of your time, and you can have moments of rest also during the course of your work. Such rest enables more effective work, and from this perspective, it is therefore an integral part of that work.

Concerning your situation — who can determine where the material objects are located to which it falls to you to bring elevation, and what type of work you should adopt? Nevertheless, relying on straightforward logic and in accordance with the statement of our Sages* that a feminine task is considered a harsh exile when it is assigned to a man who is not suited to it, even if it is very simple — I am surprised, to this day, to observe that you devote yourself to guarding the vineyards of others and not your own, that is, the vineyard of Chabad*.

It is clear that you have formed several connections in the place where you are, and I am not saying that you must immediately go to work elsewhere. I am only expressing my astonishment on this subject, and perhaps it is even conceivable that your current work does not fully suit you because of this.

In any case, your work requires much effort and strength. May Hashem therefore strengthen your physical health and also your spiritual health, so that through an intervention of the Cause of all causes and the Source of all sources, the divine sparks to which you should have brought elevation in another place will find themselves where you currently are. Thus, you will be able to transform them in tranquility and with breadth of spirit.

I am enclosing a pamphlet presenting the continuation of the imprisonment account, which was published for the days of the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us — the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, dates that are also those of our deliverance and the freedom of our souls. You will surely make its content available to the greatest number. The public merit depends on you.

With my blessing,
