Blessings and greetings,
I am responding to your letter of 7 Tammuz*, in which you tell me about a man who treats patients according to a particular approach to medicine (through herbs). He has had several successes in this area, some of which are personally known to you.
In such a case, all the details must be verified. In particular, one must evaluate the success he has had in other situations. For which cases has he been consulted, and in what manner has he achieved success?
You will then present the fruit of your investigations to three friends (see also letter no. 3421 on this subject), and you will follow their advice. Hashem will suggest to them the correct idea, and they will tell you what is preferable for your mother, to whom Hashem will grant long life.

במענה על מכתבו מז' תמוז, בו כותב ע"ד מר... המרפא אנשים בשיטת רפואה מיוחדת והצליח בכמה מהם, וגם אחדים הידועים לו אישית.
הרי בכגון דא יש לברר הפרטים, והעיקר מפרטי הצלחתו בהנוגע לאחרים - באיזה ענין של בריאות פנו אליו ובאיזה אופן הצליח. ואז יציע זה לשלשה מידידיו וכעצתם יעשו, והשי"ת יתן להם הרעיון הנכון לייעצו כטוב לאמו שתליט"א.
