Blessings and greetings,
I have just received your letter of the second day of Rosh Chodesh* of the month of the liberation of our leader (Tammuz*). This followed a particularly long silence. Certainly, you explain the reasons for it, but I still do not understand the usefulness of this silence, nor its justification.
You mention your contacts with soldiers, and I am surprised that you do not speak of the study days (of the Israeli army) and, more generally, of Tzahal*. Has advantage been taken, in this regard, of the trip for Lag BaOmer*, and of that for Shavuos*? Is the same being done for the days of the liberation on the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*? In this regard, these dates possess a special virtue, since they do not introduce any competition with another occasion or another location (since the 12th and 13th of Tammuz* are specifically celebrated by Chabad* Chassidim*) — as might be the case with Purim*, Chanukah*, or even the 19th of Kislev*.
I am pleased by what you tell me about the chapter of the Chabad* women and girls. On the other hand, I am surprised that they are not being encouraged (see letter no. 3607) and that their activities are not expanding. This is particularly true for one of the most essential — the influence exerted upon the mothers of students in the network (Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* in the Holy Land*).
Concerning the house of prayer, you tell me that it has been installed in a private home, but you do not give me the reasons. In any event, there is cause to fear that some will cease coming because of this. This would not be the case if it were located in a public place, which is self-evident.
I have received issues 14 and 15 of Machanayim*.
I am enclosing a pamphlet that is the continuation of the description of the imprisonment (of the Frierdiker Rebbe*). No doubt you will make its content available to the widest audience. The public merit depends upon it.
With my blessing,
