To Mrs. Rachel (Mrs. R. Lewin, of Sunderland, England),

Blessings and greetings,

I received with pleasure your letter of 29 Sivan, in which you describe the lengthy women's meetings, which were fruitful. You tell me especially that you now have new members.

I hope that you will not be content with what has been done until now, and that you will act to develop all of this — both in the number of members and in the content. Experience proves that when one is truly motivated and acts with the appropriate energy, one obtains from Hashem supernatural success.

You plan to collect funds — even if small amounts — at each meeting. In this matter, it is advisable to be very cautious and not to risk repelling those who sometimes cannot contribute even a small sum. Moreover, one must not give the impression that this is an institution intended for fundraising, which sometimes has the effect of discrediting the other activities as well.

If it is necessary to raise a certain amount, I think it is preferable, from various points of view, to organize a single meeting for that purpose. However, a financial dimension should not be introduced at every meeting.

Enclosed please find a copy of my general letter addressed to the Association of Chabad* Women and Girls. I hope you will find the opportunity to convey its content — in full or in its main lines — to the participants in your meeting, who are also concerned by what it explains. According to what you write, your association bears a different name (not mentioning that of Chabad*), but this is not essential. Only the content matters.
