To the young man Aharon (Rav A. Serebrianski, of Australia),

Blessings and greetings,

I have duly received your letter of 24 Sivan, and I congratulate you for the satisfaction you give me in providing detailed news about the development of Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* in Melbourne and the increase in the number of students. It is clear that upon quantitative development depends qualitative progress. Our Sages* say, indeed, that "a thousand begin the study of the Written Law, a hundred the study of the Mishnah*, and only one becomes a teacher."

No doubt the other young men also participate, to the extent of their abilities, in the development of the Yeshivah*. Their lot is enviable. Obviously, you may convey the present blessing to all who devote themselves to this activity and lend it their support.

May Hashem grant that they intensify their commitment in this sacred activity, and that the promise of our Sages* be fulfilled: "To whoever adds (efforts), more is added (blessings)."

I am enclosing the continuation of the note on the imprisonment (of the Frierdiker Rebbe*). No doubt you will make its content available to the widest audience, in the appropriate manner.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ד סיון, ויישר חילו בעד הקורת רוח שגורם ע"י הידיעות מפורטות מהתפתחות אהלי יוסף יצחק במעלבורן והגדלת גבולה בתלמידים, ומובן שיש להשתדל ג"כ בריבוי מספר התלמידים, כי בזה תלוי ג"כ הריבוי באיכות, וכמובן ממרז"ל אלף נכנסים למקרא מאה יוצאים למשנה כו' ואחד להוראה, ובודאי גם שאר האברכים משתתפים בזה כפי יכולתם בהתפתחות הישיבה, ואשרי חלקם. ומובן אשר יכול הוא למסור לכאו"א מהמשתדלים ומשתתפים ברכתי זו, ויה"ר שגם יוסיפו בהתעסקותם הקדושה ותקוים הבטחת רז"ל כל המוסיף מוסיפין לו.
