Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the Sunday of Parshas Behaalosecha*, in which you inform me of your state of health. You tell me that you feel weak and that you are subject to forgetfulness.

As you request, I will mention your name near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that you may have a significant improvement in all these areas. You surely maintain the three daily studies that apply to everyone, instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. They cover the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*, and are well known. And you also recite the Psalm that corresponds to the number of your years.

My father-in-law, the Rebbe*, told us on various occasions that in such a case, it is good to learn Mishnah* in general, and especially by heart. It would be wise, after studying for some time, when you feel fatigue, to turn to another text of Torah*. Our Sages* say indeed that one must learn "what one's heart desires."

You will also increase the fervor of your prayer. For this, you will intensify your love and fear of Hashem, which elevate the Torah* to the highest level, as the Zohar* and the Tikkunim* explain, cited by the Tanya*, in chapters 39 and 40. And the Alter Rebbe* also mentions, in this regard, a reference from the revealed dimension of Torah* — tractate Pesachim* 50b.

In this way, the Torah* rises above forgetfulness and becomes inscribed in the memory, as the Alter Rebbe* also states in his laws of Torah* study, chapter 2, end of paragraph 10.

May Hashem grant you success, for long days and good years, so that you disseminate the luminary of Torah* and its light in your close surroundings and in those that, for the time being, are not yet close.

With my respects and my blessing,

P.S.: I enclose a copy of my collective letter addressed to the young people of the Chabad* association, which is intended for those who feel young — and therefore for those who are young in the strength they possess. From various perspectives, the number of one's years should strengthen all of this.

For a certain reason, the dispatch of this letter was delayed. In the meantime, I received your two letters and learned that you are leaving for the countryside — a place that Midrash* Tehillim*, at the end of chapter 23, calls "the positive aspect of the world."

May Hashem grant that this be at a good and fruitful time, and that you have, in the words of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, "a summer in good health."
