To the great Rav*, who devotes himself to communal needs,

of manifold accomplishments, Rav Yisrael Zissel* (Rav I. Z. Dvurtz, of Yerushalayim*),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Iyar*. I read with pleasure the description of your encounter with my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, when he was in the Holy Land (during the summer of 1929), may it be restored and rebuilt. Moreover, you also met his father, the Rebbe* (the Rebbe Rashab*), whose merit protects us.

According to a well-known teaching of the Baal Shem Tov*, everything a Jew sees or hears conveys a lesson regarding the purpose of his existence. And indeed, the Mishnah* observes that "I was created to serve my Creator." How much more so when one encounters the leaders of Israel, charged with guiding their generation and those that follow.

With my respects and my blessing, on the occasion of the festival of Shavuos*, that you receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner, in the words of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*,

במענה על מכתבו מכ"א אייר, אשר נעם לי לקרות בו ע"ד פגישתו עם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בזמן שהותו באה"ק ת"ו, וגם עם אביו כ"ק אדמו"ר - זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, והרי מפורסמת הוראת הבעש"ט אשר כל דבר שאיש הישראלי רואה או שומע יש בזה איזה לימוד בהנוגע לתכלית בריאתו שהיא דבר משנה ואני נבראתי לשמש את קוני, ועאכו"כ בהזדמנות פגישה עם נשיאי ישראל מורי דרך לבני דורם ולדורות אחריהם..

בכבוד וברכת החג וכפתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר לקבלת הורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
