Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter from the day of the Hilula* of Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai*. In the meantime, you have surely received mine, which was a response to your previous correspondence.

You mention a non-Jewish specialist doctor who has a good reputation also among Jews, and you ask what I think. I do not understand your doubt. Introducing such a distinction has no relevance in the medical domain. In general, a person exercises his profession conscientiously, and we have seen what the attitude of our holy masters was in this matter. Moreover, you specify that this man is pious.

May Hashem send His Word and improve your state of health, through such a person and such a treatment.

In fact, these days are particularly auspicious, for we are approaching the time of the giving of our Torah*, which brings healing to the world, as Midrash* Shemos Rabbah* explains at length. Indeed, when they received it, all the children of Israel were in good health and whole.

I convey my blessing, in the words of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner.

I thank you for sending me the brochure "The Jewish Doctor." I will no doubt receive it in the coming days.

במ"ש אודות רופא מומחה א"י שיש לו שם טוב גם בנין בני ישראל, ושואל חוות דעתי - לא הבנתי מה הספק בזה, כי בעניני רפואה אין מבדילים בזה, ואומן לא מרעי אומנתו, וכמו שראינו במעשה בפועל אפילו מנשיאינו הק', ובפרט שכותב שהוא דתי.

וישלח השי"ת דברו וייטיב מצד בריאותו ע"י איש פלוני וטיפולם פלוני.

וסגולה מיוחדת לימים האלו, שמתקרבים אנו לזמן מתן תורתנו שמביאה רפואה לעולם, וכמובאר בארוכה גם בשמו"ר, שכל ישראל היו בריאים ושלמים לקבלת התורה.
