To the Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Saadya (Rav S. Liberov; see letters no. 2829, 3568, and 3639),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 20 Iyar*. You say that gradually the number of students (in the school Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch of Sefrou*, Morocco*) is increasing, and I am pleased. You are surely doing everything possible in this regard to surpass the previous school year. Indeed, "one ascends in matters of holiness." Moreover, the institutions with which you are in contact observe this development and interpret it in various ways.

You do not mention the study of the laws and customs of Israel, but this is presumably only an omission in your letter, and this teaching is indeed being given, for it is fundamental, as has been emphasized many times.

I was particularly pleased about the Chassidic* farbrengen* organized for the students on the day of the Hilula* of Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai* (Lag BaOmer*). Our Sages* say that sharing food brings people closer, and this applies to students and disciples as well.

You will surely organize a similar farbrengen* on the occasion of Shavuos* — during the festival, before or after it, or perhaps even on all of these dates.

No doubt a coordination among the Chassidim* of Morocco exists regarding the upcoming vacations. May Hashem grant you success, as well as in all the other areas of your sacred mission.

I would like to have unofficial knowledge of how the new mikveh* to which you allude was constructed (see letters no. 3568 and 3639).

In keeping with the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, I wish you to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner.

במענה על מכתבו מכ' אייר, נהניתי ממ"ש שלאט לאט מתרבה מספר התלמידים.

ובודאי עושים ככל הדרוש בזה - עד שיהי' יותר מזמן לימוד העבר, כי הרי מעלין בקדש, ובענין זה "מביטים" על ההגדלה - בהמוסדות אשר עמהם עומדים בקישור, ולומדים בזה כמה פירושים.

אף שאין מזכיר אודות הלימוד של דינים ומנהגי ישראל, בודאי אין זה אלא חסרון בכתיבה, אבל ישנו הלימוד בפועל, כי רבה הוא, וכמדובר כבר כמה פעמים.

נהניתי במיוחד מההתועדות שערכו עם התלמידים בהילולא דרשב"י, והרי מרז"ל גדולה לגימה שמקרבת - קאי גם על תלמידים ומושפעים. ובודאי גם בקשר עם חג השבועות יערכו התועדות, אם בימי היו"ט עצמו או לפניהם או לאחריהם. ואפשר יש מקום להא ולהא.

בודאי מתדברים אנ"ש שבמרוקה ביניהם אודות התכנית דימי החופש הבע"ל.

ויה"ר שיהי' בהצלחה וכן שאר פרטי עבודתם בקדש.
