To the great Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yitzchak (Rav I. Dubov; see letters no. 3131 and 3656),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of this Thursday. Concerning the esrogim* from Italy, I have already replied that I have no news from there. It would be advisable for you to contact the great Rav and Chassid*, Rav Mordechai HaKohen Perlov, who resides in Milan, Italy (see letter no. 3647).

You describe, though in just a few words, the Chassidic* farbrengen* of Lag BaOmer* and I am pleased. May Hashem grant that these farbrengens* become more frequent. Our Sages* say that sharing food brings people closer, and the Alter Rebbe* describes the effect of a Chassidic* farbrengen* (see letters no. 3337, 3677, and 3746). If it is conducted properly, all of this will indeed be accomplished.

The Tanya*, at the beginning of chapter 43, discusses the awe that one experiences while meditating on the greatness of Hashem. It specifies that this is the highest aspect of the lower fear, but not yet the higher fear. The Kuntres HaAvodah* explains all of this precisely, in chapter 3.

In keeping with the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, I send my blessing that you receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner.

במענה על מכתבו מיום ה', הנה בהנוגע להאתרוגים דאיטליא, הרי כבר עניתי שאין בידי ידיעות משם. ואפשר כדאי שכת"ר יתקשר עם הרה"ג הרה"ח כו' מוה"ר מרדכי הכהן שי' פערלאוו הדבר במילאנא -איטאליא.

נהניתי ממה שכותב, אף כי רק מלים אחדות, מהתועדות דל"ג בעומר, ויה"ר שיתועדו לעתים תכופות יותר, וע"פ מרז"ל גדולה לגימה שמקרבת, וע"פ פתגם רבנו הזקן ע"ד התעודות חסידותית - יקויימו כל הענינים המקווים מהתועדות כדבעי..

במש"כ בתניא רפמ"ג - יראה הבאה מההתבוננות בגדולת ה' היא בחי' גדלות דיר"ת , ולא יר"ע. ומבואר הענין היטב בקונ' העבודה פ"ג.
