Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 5 Iyar*, in which you inform me that you have been allocated a plot of land and that you are building on it. You ask me whether you should build your house, even though this will cause you to incur debts, or whether you should instead look for work.

I have already written to several Chassidim* (see letters no. 2262, 3301, 3338, 3496, and 3497), and have asked them to publicize that, in my opinion, the channel and vessel for earning their livelihood is found in Kfar Chabad*. Whoever has his portion there must therefore hold onto it to the full extent possible.

One should not fear going into debt to build a proper house. Indeed, "you dwell among your people" (everyone faces the same difficulties), and all those who are settling find themselves in a more or less identical situation. The repayment terms will therefore be favorable.

May Hashem grant you success in all the above, so that you announce good tidings on this matter in your next letter. You will also describe your fixed study sessions in the revealed dimension of the Torah* and in Chassidus*, as well as your participation in the public classes.

במענה על מכתבו מה' אייר, בו כותב שקבל חלקה חקלאית ובונים עתה, ושואל אם יבנו ביתו, אף שעי"ז יכנס בחובות או לחפש עבודה כו'.

והנה כבר כתבתי לכמה מאנ"ש, ובקשתים לפרסם, אשר לדעתי צנור וכלי הפרנסה לאנ"ש הם בכפר חב"ד, וכל מי שזכה שיש לו חלק בו עליו להתאחז בזה בכל היכולת, ואין להתרשם שנכנסים בחובות לבנין הבית כדבעי, כיון שבתוך עמו הוא יושב וכל המתיישבים במצב פחות או יותר שוה אחד לרעהו, ובמילא יהיו תנאי התשלומין נוחים וכו', והשי"ת יצלחו בכל הנ"ל ובמכתבו השני יבשר טוב בזה, ומשיעוריו הקבועים בתורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות נוסף על השתתפותו בשיעורים הנלמדים ברבים.
