Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter from the eve of Pesach*, in which you express a much better morale than in the previous ones. May Hashem grant not only that you maintain this morale, but moreover, that you also strengthen your trust in Hashem. The peace of mind and joy that you will derive from this will enable you to carry out your sacred mission with increased diligence.

I will no doubt receive, in the coming days, good news of the enrollments (of new students in the schools of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch network in the Holy Land for the following school year; see letter no. 3477). You will also tell me what your plans are for the new school year.

You feel that teaching is not yet your strong point. A very ancient verse addresses this subject and, referring to each person in particular, says: "Man is born like a wild foal." One therefore progresses only step by step, on the path that leads to the house of Hashem and enables one to carry out one's mission, to serve Hashem with all one's strength and by all one's means. The purpose is to unite with the Essence of Hashem, and the means of achieving this obviously knows no limit.

In general, every Jew, every Jewess advances in relation to what was his or her starting point. Nevertheless, the possibility of continual improvement is always preserved. Thus, our Sages* observe (establishing a hierarchy of values that shows that advancement can be permanent) that "the feet of the angels surpass all the preceding," as the Tanya* explains at the end of chapter 13. Now, all the qualities and values that one accumulates here below are insignificant compared to those — or more precisely, to their quintessence — that one acquires upon reaching a broader level of perfection.

And the help that Hashem grants also accords with all of this, as Iggeres HaKodesh* explains in chapter 14. Each day, one receives a more elaborate intellect, emanating from a higher level that has never yet illuminated the world, as this text establishes. Moreover, what is true in general also applies more specifically to each domain and in every context.

Consequently, your improved morale must arouse in you increased strength and genuine effort. In this way, the success of the "finding" (as it is said, "I have labored and I have found") will be all the greater.

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מער בחג הפסח - במצב רוח טוב בהרבה יותר מאשר במכתביו הקודמים. ויה"ר מהשי"ת שלא רק שישאר במצב רוח כזה, אלא אדרבה עוד יוסיף בבטחונו בהשי"ת, ובמילא במנוחת הנפש ובשמחה, שעי"ז יתוסף גם המרץ בעבודת בקדש.

בודאי אקבל ימים אלו ידיעות מפעולת הרישום, וההשקפות לשנת לימודים הבע"ל.

מ"ש שמרגיש הוא שבמקצוע ההוראה עדיין חוש הוא, הרי מקרא ישן נושן הוא , ומדבר בכאו " א ממין האדם, אשר עיר פרא אדם יולד, וממילא מובן שאך צעד אחר צעד הולכים בדרך ובמסילה העולה בית א-ל, להיות אדם הממלא את תפקידו לשמש את קונו בכל כחותיו ובכל יכולתו. וכיון שהמטרה היא התאחדות במהות ועמות א"ס ב"ה ה"ז מובן שגם הדרך אין סופית היא. וכמו שכל אחד מבני ובנות ישראל כבר צעד לפנים מהנקודה הראשונה שבדרכו - הרי, מצד השני, עדיין אפשר לו להשתלם עוד יותר ויותר.

וע"פ מרז"ל רגלי החיות כנגד כולם, וכמבואר בתניא סוף פרק י"ג, הנה כל המעלות ומדריגות שלמטה - הם כאין לגבי מעלת ומדריגת - היינו לגבי הנקודה - שיבוא אלי' לאחר שישתלם עוד מעט ועוד מעט להגיע לשלימות, שלכן מתאים לזה גם אופן הסייעתא דשמיא - שהיא ג"כ באופן כזה, וכמבואר באגה"ק סי' י"ד, אשר בכל יום ויום נמשכין מוחין עליונים מבחינה עליונה יותר שלא הי' מאיר עדיין מעולם עיי"ש, וכמו שהוא בכללות ובדברים עיקרים כן הוא גם בכל מקצוע וענין. ובמילא הרגש הנ"ל צריך לעורר תוספת כח ויגיעה ובמילא תהי' גם תוספת בההצלחה ובה'מצאת'.

בברכת הצלחה בכל הנ"ל, ולבשו"ט גם בעיניהם הפרטים שלו ושל כב"ב שיחיו.
