Greetings and blessings,

As you requested, I mentioned these individuals at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that they obtain the fulfillment of all their needs.

You were the emissary who conveyed their request to me, and you will therefore transmit all of this to them. You will tell them that their name was mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, the leader of Israel. You will also relate to them what he often explained regarding a blessing that he connected to the expression "rains of blessing" (see, in particular, letters no. 3256 and 3694). He emphasized that one must first plow and plant. Only afterward can the rain reveal a considerable blessing.

It is clear that, for Jews constituting a family, such a blessing consists first and foremost in having a home that is a model of what a Jewish home should be — that is, "a small sanctuary" — through the manner in which it is maintained. Experience shows that all of this depends essentially on the woman, the mistress of the home. But the man must also help her to the full extent of his ability.

To achieve such a result, it must, of course, be evident that the husband — whether at home or walking in the street, rising or retiring — is recognized by all who see him as a descendant of Avraham*, Yitzchak* and Yaakov*.

This principle must apply in every place and at all times, but how much more so in our generation, when each of us is "a firebrand saved from the blaze" (a survivor of the Shoah*), whom the Creator of the world has preserved in His great kindness "in order to sustain a numerous people." And in the land "toward which the eyes of Hashem are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year" (the Holy Land), the merit and the responsibility associated with such conduct are considerably increased.

Now, Hashem demands only in proportion to the strength that each person possesses. From the outset, all the means and all the possibilities are granted in order to fully accomplish what has just been described, in the era in which one lives, in the place where one is found. I would like you to convey this message, with the necessary clarifications, to each of these individuals.

כבקשות הזכרתי את... על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, להמצטרך לכל אחד ואחת מהם, וכיון שהי' שליח להובאת בקשתם, הרי בטח ימסור להם ג"כ הנ"ל, שנזכרו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, ובודאי יסבירם ג"כ מה דמרגלא בפומא, בדיוק לשון רז"ל בהנוגע לברכה, גשמי ברכה, שצריכה להיות תחלה חרישה וזריעה ואז הנה הגשם מביא ברכה בתוספת מרובה. ומובן, אשר באיש ואשה הישראלים בני משפחה - הוא, לכל לראש, העמדת הבית שיהי' דוגמא ולמופת בית איש הישראלי - היינו "מקדש מעט" בהנהגתו. וכנראה במוחש, הרי תלוי זה בעיקר בהנהגת האשה עקרת הבית ושהבעל יסייע בידה ככל יכולתו.

ומובן אשר אי אפשר להנ"ל כי אם כאשר הבעל מתנהג בשבתו בביתו ובלכתו בדרך ובשכבו ובקומו, באופן אשר כל רואיו יכירוהו כי מזרע אברהם יצחק ויעקב הוא.

ואם הנ"ל מוכרח בכל מקום ובכל זמן, עאכו"כ בדורנו זה, שכל אחד מאתנו הוא אוד מוצל מאש, אשר ברחמיו הגדולים, השאירו בורא עולם השי"ת לפליטה כדי להחיות עם רב, ובארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית שנה ועד אחרית שנה - שהאחריות והזכות ההנהגה כזו גדולים כ"פ ככה. ואין הקב"ה מבקש אלא לפי כחו של כל אחד, ומראש ניתנו הכחות והאפשריות למלא את כל הנ"ל במילואו בזמן ומקום בו נמצאים. ואשמח אם יודיע את... שיחיו כל אחד מהם בפרט, עדכ"ז בפרטיות המתאימה.
