To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs, and is full of enthusiasm, Rav David (Rav D. Berdah, of Tunis; see letter no. 3216),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the tenth day of the hidden treasures (of the Omer* period), in which you describe, very briefly, the program of classes that currently exists.

May Hashem grant that those who deliver these teachings attain their goal and that they make their words penetrate the hearts of those who receive them. For this, two well-established conditions must be fulfilled. On one hand, Tractate Berachos* 6b states: "When someone fears Hashem, his words are heard." Furthermore, our Sages* affirm that "words that emanate from the heart penetrate into the heart," as reported in the Sefer HaYashar* of Rabbeinu Tam*, at the thirteenth gate, and in the holy Shnei Luchos HaBris*, at the Gate of Letters.

May Hashem grant you the success of having students who listen and apply — for "great is study" precisely when "it leads to action."

Concerning the future plans for this sacred mission, I have spoken with the great Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs, and is full of enthusiasm, Rav B. E. Gorodetski (Rav Binyamin Eliyahu Gorodetski, director of the refugee aid bureau in Paris; see also letter no. 3535). Very soon, he will write to you to provide all the necessary details.

במענה על מכתבו מעשירי למטמונים, בו כותב אף כי בקיצור נמרץ על דבר תכנית השיעורים הקיימים לעת עתה, ויהי רצון משם יתברך ויתעלה אשר יעלה ביד מגידי השיעורים להשיג המטרה, היינו שיהיו נכנסים דבריהם ללב השומעים, והוא על ידי שני התנאים הידועים, שכל מיש שי בו יראת שמים דבריו נשמעים (ברכות ו, ע"ב), ודברים היוצאים מן הלב נכנסים אל הלב (מאמר רז"ל הובא בספר הישר לרבנו תם שער י"ג ובשל"ה הקדוש שער האותיות). ויצליחם בתלמידים מקשיבים ומביאים הענינים בפועל כי גדול תלמוד (דוקא) שמביא לידי מעשה.

בהנוגע להתכנית בעתיד בעבודה קדושה זו, הנה דברתי עם הרה"ג וו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ על מרץ כו' הרב"א שי' גאראדעצקי, ובקרוב יבוא עמהם בכתובים בפרטיות המתאימה.
