Greetings and blessings,
You ask me what to do when you must walk alone at night (to reach Kfar Chabad*, following the assassination that took place during the winter). The assurance has been given that Hashem watches over Yisrael* and protects each individual, as I have written (see letter no. 3161). Moreover, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, continues to fulfill his mission (of protecting the Jewish people, of which he is the leader), and he will invoke Divine mercy for all of this.
Nevertheless, you should not adopt exceptional behavior and should act as all the other Chassidim* do in this regard. It must be possible to find a solution so that the situation does not call into question your sacred mission.

... מ"ש אודות איך להתנהג בענין ללכת יחידי בלילה וכו'. הרי אף שמובטחני שהשי"ת שומר ישראל ישמרם את כל אחד ואחת מהם, וכמו שכתבתי במכתבי מאז, וביחוד שכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, מה עד כאן עומד ומשמש אף עתה כו' ומעורר ר"ר על כל הנ"ל, הנה בכל זה אין להיות יוצא מן הכלל כמוש נוהגים שאר מאנ"ש בזה, ובודאי אפשר לסדר שלא יפריע נוהג זה מעבודתו בקדש...
