Igrot Kodesh · Letter 344 — Appreciation to a Fundraiser for Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch
Volume 2 · Letter 178
By the grace of Hashem,
11 Adar Sheni 5708,
Dear Mr. Alexander Cohen(1),
I greet and bless you,
On the occasion of Purim*, I convey to you, on behalf of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch* and in my own name, my wishes for a good festival.
Enclosed is the Chassidic discourse* that my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, Shlit'a*, has had published for Purim*, together with copies of my letters to our friends, Messrs. Stolman(2) and Lesser.
Tractate Bava Batra* 9a states that 'one who brings others to act surpasses one who acts himself.' This means that however great the merit of the donors who support an endeavor from their own means, the merit of those who drew them close and enabled them to perform good deeds is still greater.
Each time we think of the assistance our friends have rendered to Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch* as a result of your intervention, each time we express our gratitude to them, we thank you all the more — for you are the source of their drawing close to Jewish values in general and to the work of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch* in particular.
I hope that you will continue your fruitful activity, that you will influence our good friends to increase their participation, so as to realize the ever more ambitious projects of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch*, which must grow — for its minimal needs at the present time far exceed its maximal possibilities of just a few years ago.
I greet you warmly and present my best wishes for a joyous and pleasant Purim*, for you and for all your household.
Rav Menachem Schneerson,
Director of the Executive Committee,
