To the Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Shlomo Chaim (Rav S. H. Kasselman; see letter no. 3047),
Greetings and blessings,
You ask me about going to Meron* for Lag BaOmer* (with the entire Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Lod. Lag BaOmer* fell that year in the middle of the week, and Rav Kasselman argued that such a trip might disrupt the Yeshivah's* studies for an entire week, given the preparations and the need to rest afterward). You did so in previous years, and it is therefore not proper to abandon this practice, with all the interpretations that might be made — including unfavorable ones.
However, it is not necessary for the entire Yeshivah* to go, with its teachers and deans. You say that the Yeshivah's* studies will be disrupted for an entire week, and I am surprised. In this matter, one should seek quality rather than quantity.
With my blessing,
M. Schneerson
