Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter of 25 Nissan*, in which you tell me that you are pursuing your studies without enthusiasm, for you feel no interest in them.
It is unnecessary to remind you that both these points depend solely on you. Indeed, your soul was present at Mount Sinai. You therefore received the strength, the possibility, and the capacity to study with devotion and ardor. And the result is commensurate with the effort.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ה ניסן בו כותב שלומד בלי חיות כו' וכו' ושאין לו בזה שום טעם.
הנה בודאי למותר לעוררו ששני הענינים תלוים אך ורק בו, כי גם נשמתו עמדה בהר סיני, ובמילא ניתנו לו הכחות היכולת והאפשרות ללמוד בקבלת עול וללמור בחיות ולפום גמלא שיחנא, והאריכות בדבר הפשוט אך למותר...
