Greetings and blessings,
My secretariat transmitted to me your letter, which arrived with some delay. You mention the Tanya* published in Altona in 5606 (1846), and you enclosed a photocopy of three of its pages. In the meantime, I have received here a copy of the Tanya* from that edition, though the end is missing. In any event, I thank you for your effort and your interest (in having transmitted these pages to me).
On the occasion of the festival of Pesach*, which approaches for us and for all of Yisrael* for good, I wish you a celebration imbued with the spirit of true freedom — material and spiritual alike — which is conceivable only when the spirit prevails over matter and the soul over the body.

מהמזכירות מסרו לי מכתבו - שנתקבל באיחור קצת - בו כותב ע"ד ספר התניא דפוס אלטונא תר"ו בצירוף הצילום משלשת עמודים בו, ובינתים נזדמן לי כאן ספר תניא מהוצאה זו אף כי חסר בסופו, בכל אופן ת"ח על טרחתו בהנ"ל ושימת לבבו.
ולקראת חג הפסח הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, הנני בזה לאחל לו לחגגו ברוח חירות אמיתית חירות הגוף והנפש גם יחד האפשרית רק בהגברת הצורה (הנפש) על החומר (הגוף).
