To the young man David Avraham (Rav D. A. Lesselbaum, of Kfar Chabad*),

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter from the month of Adar*, which followed a period of silence. I was gratified to read therein about the manner in which you exert your influence upon your surroundings — your friends and acquaintances — regarding everything pertaining to the fear of Hashem and, most importantly, the actual practice of the mitzvos*.

It is surely unnecessary to point out that there is no reason to be distressed if things do not proceed as quickly as you would have wished. Indeed, who knows? Nevertheless, each one of us must do everything in his power, and it is certain that an effort is never in vain — especially when one speaks words that emanate from the heart, which penetrate into the heart (see letter no. 3443), even if their effect is felt only subsequently.

In accordance with your request, correspondence will be sent to Paris regarding what you write and mention in your letter. May Hashem grant you the merit and the success to convey good tidings of your personal affairs and of everything just mentioned.

שלום וברכה!

לאחר שתיקתו נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מחדש אדר, ונהניתי לקרות בו מהשפעתו על סביבתו מכיריו וידידיו בענינם דיראת שמים, ועיקר העיקרים - בקיום דמצות מעשיות בפועל, ובודאי למותר לעוררו שאין להתרשם ממה שאין הדבר נעשה במהירות הרצוי', כי אין אתנו יודע עד מה, ובכל זה על כל או"א מאתנו לעשותכ כל התלוי בו, וחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ובפרט כשהדברים יוצאים מן הלב שהם נכנסים אל הלב, אף שלפעמים - הפעולה לאחר זמן.

כבקשתו יכתבו לפאריז בהענין אודותו כותב ומזכיר במכתבו, והשי"ת יזכהו ויצליחו לבשר טוב בענינו הוא ובכל הנ"ל.
