Blessings and greetings,

I duly received your letter, in which you share your state of mind. In accordance with the well-known proverb, "A little light dispels much darkness." No doubt, therefore, you are making use of all this to push back the darkness from the outside.

As our Torah, Torah of life, requires, a person has the obligation and the merit to illuminate not only his own four cubits, but also the portion of the world entrusted to him. It is thus that one prepares for the fulfillment of the promise that the world will be filled with light.

This can also be inferred from the teaching of our Sages — concise yet conveying a profound lesson — according to which, at the birth of the savior of Israel, Moshe Rabbeinu*, the first and last redeemer, the house was filled with light.

Moreover, the month of Nissan* approaches, and our Sages say in this regard that "one who goes out in Nissan and observes trees in bloom recites the blessing upon the King of the world, Who created in it beneficial beings and good trees."

On the occasion of the festival of Pesach*, I express my wishes, herewith, that it be kosher* and joyous for all of you.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבה, בו כותבת אשר הוטב מצב רוחה, ועל פי הפתגם הידוע אשר מעט אור דוחה הרבה חשך הרי בודאי מנצלת את הנ"ל לדחות החשך הנמצא בחוץ.

וכדרישת תורתנו תורת חיים, אשר מחובת האדם וזכותו הוא, לא רק שיהי' אור בד' אמות שלו אלא גם בחלקו בעולם, אשר זהו משמש הכנה לקיום היעוד שיתמלא בעולם כולו אורה, וכנלמד גם כן ממאמר רז"ל קצר אבל כולל תורה והוראה שלימה, שבלידת מושיען של ישראל הוא משה רבנו גואל ראשון ואחרון, נתמלא הבית כולו אורה, ובפרט שימים אלו ימי חדש ניסן שאמרו רז"ל שאפילו היוצא בימי ניסן וראה אילנות מוציאים פרח מברך למלך העולם שברא בו בריות טובות ואילנות טובות.

ולקראת חג הפסח הממשמש ובא, אביע איחולי בזה לחג פסח כשר ושמח לכולם.
