Greetings and blessings,

It has been a very long time since I have had news directly from you, although several pieces of information have been communicated to me by those from your area who come to visit here. As we have said several times, it would be advisable for you to organize, from time to time, a meeting. A report will be written and you will send a copy here.

Practice establishes that when one knows that, at the proper time, one will have to give an accounting of what has actually been accomplished, one mobilizes new forces, through which one actually acts to the fullest extent possible.

More precisely, here is the subject of this letter. I asked several people who came here what changes had been introduced in the organization of the Yeshivah*. Yet none of them was able to confirm that measures had been taken to ensure that students of the upper classes continue their studies at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim* upon completion of the school curriculum, including that of secondary education. Since no one had any news to report on this matter, I conclude that nothing has been done.

It goes without saying that this is very detrimental. Indeed, one has seen what you have been doing since the Yeshivah has been in existence. The insufficiency of your efforts has resulted in only a few students remaining with you. These few sentences, formulated in an allusive manner, will surely suffice.

This effort is absolutely necessary for the uppermost class, which must not be abandoned. Nevertheless, to increase the chances of success, one must also prepare for this in the preceding classes — accustom the students to the idea that remaining at the Yeshivah is their true good, not only morally but also physically. As our holy masters say, it is certain that effort is never in vain. And when one does not obtain the expected result, it is proof that one did not make the effort.

I have good hope that these few lines will suffice, and that immediately you will consult together with all due attention on these various matters, and you will engage effectively in concrete action. The blessing of the founder of the Yeshivah, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, will extend also to this effort and to all who will have the merit of participating in it with self-sacrifice*, diligence, and sincerity.

זה מזמן רב ביותר שאין מהם כל ידיעות באופן ישר, אף שנמסרו כמה פרטים ע"י הנוסעים מהתם להכא, וכבר נדבר איזה פעמים שמן הנכון הי' שלעתים מסוימות יעשו אסיפה וכן פרטי כל מהאסיפה - ע"מ לשלוח העתקה מזה גם לכאן, ורואים במוחש, שכאשר יודעים שבבוא יום פלוני צריכים יהיו להודיע לעוד מקום ע"ד הנעשה בפו " מ - ה"ז מעורר כחות נוספים לפעולות בפועל כפי האפשרי.

ועל נקודה מיוחדת באתי בזה, והיא: שלמרות ששאלתי מכמה הבאים לכאן בהנוגע לשינויים בסדרי הישיבה, הנה אף מאחד מהם לא הגיעתני ידיעה אשר נעשה דבר מה בהשתדלות שהתלמידים מכתות הגבוהות ימשיכו לימודיהם בישיבת תו"ת גם לאחר שיגמרו את הסקול ואפילו את ההיי סקול, וכיון שאין בפי אפילו אחד מהנוסעים איזה ידיעה עד"ז, הנה בטח זהו סימן שבפועל עדיין לא נעשה דבר בהנ"ל. וגודל ההיזק אשר בזה - בודאי אין צריך ביאור. בפרט שראוהו באותן השנים שהישיבה קיימת... שע"י העדר ההתעסקות בהנ"ל הנה רק תלמידים בודדים נשארו במחיצתם, וד"ל ברמיזא.

מובן שהשתדלות הנ"ל, אף שמוכרחת גם בכתה היותר גבוה, שהרי אין לוותר עלי', הנה בכדי שתהי' בהצלחה יותר - כדאי להכין את הנ"ל בהכתות שלפני זה, ולהכשירם להרעיון אשר טובתם האמיתית היא, ולא רק ברוחניות אלא גם בגשמיות, להשאר בהישיבה גם לאח"כ וכו' וכו'. וכבר ידוע פסק רבוה"ק שחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם. ובאם אין פועלים הנ"ל - ה"ז ראי' מוכחת שלא היתה תעמולה...

ותקותי ששורותי אלה המעטות בכמות, תספקנה אשר תומ"י יתייעצו בשימת לב הראוי' על כל דבר הנ"ל, ויתחילו בפו"מ בפעולות ממשיות, וברכת מייסדה הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע תחול גם על פעולה זו ועל כל אלו שיזכו לנהלה במסירה ושקידה אליבא דנפשי'.
